I am thinking of buying one of these projects but which one is the best.
Has any one demoed them both!

lol nobody will convince you either way, both projectors have satisfied most owners. Try and see one, if you like it, go for it.

For me it came down to installation.

I was looking at these two machines, and was unsure which to go for. Then I started to seriously consider how I would install it in "MY" house, and realised that for "ME" the longer throw lens of the AE700 was the better way to go.

It really was just down to that !

BUT......... Having now got the Panny I must say, I am terribly protective of it's reputation, so if lens throw for you is not an issue, I would still go for the AE700

Panasonic products seem to be orphans where the customer is referred to the salesman who sold you the item!

Problems
Just to try to move the projector up and down a few inchese... unless you use it bang shooting onto the screen (and on a concrete podium) you might get more help counting on your religious fantasies!

the other 63 customers seem extremely happy !!

I decided on the Z3 because of the 3 year waranty, and 2 component inputs. Orignially I was goin for an AE700 because of the scart input and firmware problems with the Z3. But the firmware was fixed and the I found out you can run scart through the vga input.

Its all down to personal preference, from what I've heard the AE700 and Z3 produce a very similar picture, so sit down and weight out the strength and weakness's of each projector.

I can't feel feel some shop owners (in particular) and reviewers are for some reason being very quite over comparions for some odd reason.

Hey, If I was a reviewer, or the manager for a shop.

get 4 shelves on your back wall.

Put a AE700, The Z3, a HS50 and the Hitachi (san't remember the model no.) on the shelves.

Feed them from 4 DVD players, turn the lights off and have a bloody look!!!

It's not rocket science, and using tha same DVD in the same players with all 4 machines.

Heck, you could even put some black card in front of 3 projectors at a time and do a kind of live switching.

But no-one seems willing to do it.

Very odd when you think about it.

Only reason I can think is they don't want to say which is best as it will harm sales for their business.

The back wall where the pj will live (AE 700e or Z3) …..Or Sony HS50 thanks!! Is 16 feet from the front wall i will be using.
Would the Z3 or Sony still project an 80”x40” ish image on to that.
I am worried it will go to big.

Having had a quick look at the above site I think you may be limited to the Panny if you intend to have the PJ 16 feet from the screen

Just to add a small comparison between projectors, I notice projector central have got a comparison between the top £1000-2000 projectors (namely HS50/Z3/AE700/TX100/4805/5000).

Dont know how respected it is but worth a read anyway Id imagine.

Looks like you have similar dimensions to me. That will scrub out the Z3 unless you want to mount it upside down from the ceiling.

I put mine up in my lounge, so I wasn't keen on anything hanging from there (or rather my wife wasn't !!! )
