Jvc x30,70, 90 vs new models

I have a panasonic pt ae 900 at the moment and use it for normal home cinema in my living room with blackout blinds. Does not block out light completely. I have been pretty happy with this machine but after 2000 hours its coming to its end. I use a projecta procinema screen of 1.8m by 1.2m (85inch).
I am about to buy a new projector, and decided to go with JVC.
I can get the old versions new in box for: DLA x30 for £1600, x70 for £2800, x90 for £4000.
My budget is approx £3000, and now not sure what to do, buy a new x35 or stick with one of the older models. My gut is telling to stretch to the X90, but is it worth the extra cash? Sense is telling me to go for the X30 and save some cash.
I do not have a dealer nearby to review the various models.
I will have to travel the week after next to the dealer (by plane) but knowing myself I will be too impulsive, and buy the most expensive one.
Please help with projector advice and do I need to change my screen?

Go down the middle, the X70 has e-shift and at £2800 is a steal, the new X55 is £5k with eshift2 but X70 would for me be the best option and with a good improvement in performance over the X30.

JVC X70 for 2800! Where?? At that price the X70 is the deal of the year. I've been looking to upgrade and seen the Sony 30,95 models as well as the JVC X30 and the X70 was my favourite for 2D. I was about to buy then decided to wait to see the X75.
At that price it would be a easy decision for me and I'm sure many others so If you chose something else or they have more than one in stock I'd appreciate a link to the dealers.
If I was you I'd already be sitting at home watching TDK munching popcorn.

Just to comment that to make sure that any deal on an X30/70/90 comes with the later type lamp which should end with '003'. Otherwise the earlier types are well known for premature dimming. JVC have been very good about replacing this lamps, but for some users who might take longer than a year to reach 600 hours or so (seems to be the typical failure point on the early lamps) then best to be forewarned.

Otherwise it looks a good deal for an X70, especially if 3D isn't such a high priority (as with me) since early reviews of the X35/55/75/95 seem to indicate that 3D has improved on the newer models.

That X70 looks too cheap, where have you found that bargain?

Sorry for the off-topic, but your new suffix is even more baffling than the previous one!

It's from a highly thought provoking and deep film (NOT!)

Is the same applicable with the RS45? Do JVC help you out the same as if you'd bought the consumer version?

Yes, it's the same projector and the same lamp. I've no idea how they deal with the RS45, but so long as it's a UK model and not an import then I'm sure they'd look after you.

How can you tell what lamp you'll be getting before you make the purchase? Is is detailed on the ptojector's box itself or have you got to remove the lamp to know for sure?

I think the only way you know for sure is to look at the lamp itself. The '003' version has some kind of metal 'flap' though I don't know what it looks like, just that I've seen it described. On the lamp should be a part number and it will end with '002' or hopefully '003' (and I guess very early projectors must have ended with '001'.

I wonder if the PJ box has a manufactered date on it that you could go by? I.e. anything built after x would be fitted with a 003 bulb?

Possibly, but I don't know what that date might be. Perhaps GaryB might be able to help?

I will reveal all next week after I collect mine next Friday. But note its not in the UK.
Btw do any of you have any experience of connecting a Vogel ceiling bracket to a jvc?
Its fine for my current panasonic, but will it work with the jcv which is much bigger and heavier?

Well enjoy your trip. I'll look forward to hearing the results next week.
Have you decided on which projector you're going to get? At those prices I'd be tempted to buy two instead of having a backup lamp.

X90, the only x70 left was a demo box which had close to 400 hours done, so decided on a new in the box x90.
So now I just need to get home to hook it up.
And where did I get it..............
Audiotvcentrum in the Netherlands. Wilbert is the person to talk to.

X90...not too shabby. Enjoy. Thanks for the details. I'm leaning towards the X75 for the extra lens memory and eshift2. Just waiting out for a good deal.

So you got it from Macclesfield then?

Was tempted to look for one myself, but never seemed to spot any for a price I was happy to pay.

Macclesfield lol!
Got it from France but only 2 year warranty. To be honest, living in N Ireland its very little difference sending to France or England if i have an issue so not a big deal for me buying European.
I hope I don't regret it, it's all about e shift really as I know the motion handling might not be quite as good as my Sony so I'm hoping e shift makes me forget about that
