I took them out and tried them on quickly, nice and comfy, i'm curious to their claims of being the brightest glasses they have done yet, that would work for me, brighter the better.

Not cheap at the moment, would be interesting to know if they are actually better than the RF or is a question of preference

Just put on Avatar, 3d is as expected, no ghosting I can see, glasses do let in a lot of light which is nice, the image is really nice with these, however I have noticed a very quick reddish flash on the specs every minute or so, very annoying I must say, any ideas?

The reddish flash turned out to be a hdmi issue I think, I noticed when I took the glasses off it still happened on the screen, so I flicked the AVR to Sky and then back to the BR deck to re-initialise the hdmi handshake and it solved the problem, tried a few discs and all looked great, watched a bit of Madagascar 3 which looked really nice, bright and vibrant and lots of pop, the trailer on the disc for Rise Of The Guardians looked spectacular, that is a must have disc if it looks as good as that did.

I must point out that the new rf glasses I thought were superb, it does appear that they let alot of light in, it felt almost like wearing passive glasses, plus I couldn't see any ghosting at all.

But on Amazon.com they are about $78, why do we constantly get ripped here?

I guess as Optoma dont retail directly, it's up to the retailers. New/low stock items, high/premium price.
Definitely keen to try a pair though

Can any owners advise whether the RF emitter for this Projector will talk to RF glasses from other systems. specifically i'm looking at getting a 6300 series Samsung TV later this month and it would be great to get a set of glasses that would work with both devices

yes, the 6500 "E" series are bluetooth. is that different to the "RF" output of the Optoma IR > RF adapter unit ?

I'm assuming so, if not directly different it will more than likely have different frequencies.

The rf glasses will not work on a Samsung TV as there Bluetooth but it doesn't matter as you won't be watching any 3d on your tv , trust me I have not used the 3d on my Samsung TV since I got my hd33 over a year ago

The difference is huge between a TV and a projector for 3d

Hi guys how does this projector rate against a Optoma hd65 with 3dxl ? anyone owned the previous and now upgraded to this ? ive just bought the 3dxl but i think i wanna upgrade

Whilst the 3D is good on the 3dxl i still think i missing alot of brightness, detail, more depth and pop but i dunno if im just expecting more from 3D but in reality thats the best it gets if you get me lol

I had a hd67 and 3dxl and its well worth the upgrade , but only if your using a blu ray source for 3d , if your using sbs mkv films the quality is the same , I only use blu ray now and won't watch sbs stuff

The 2d upgrade to 1080p is good as well

The HD65 has slightly less lumens output, although its not much less, I doubt you would notice much difference in that area, 3d will be the same more or less as with your 3dxl, what will be much better is the detail, and how vibrant the image is on the HD33.

3d is worlds apart , its jaw dropping with the right film , tangled for example look really good on my 3dxl , and bloody amazing on the hd33

The 3d effect is the same as in depth and pop

Coming as a past owner I would say you would not regret upgrading for 1 second I didn't , even the wife was wow that's better then the old one and she doesn't give a monkeys about my av gear she would be happy with a black and white portable tv

Agreed, its a worthwhile upgrade, especially as they are now £998 with the new rf glasses and the latest firmware which fixes previous issues.

Hi All.

Just purchased an HD300x this week and am looking for 4-6 pairs of inexpensive 3d glasses. I looked on ebay and the ones people usually recommend seem to not be compatible with the HD33/HD300x as of October:

2 Pairs 3D DLP Link Glasses for Optoma HD33 HD36 HD65 HD66 HD5101 Projector New | eBay

Any idea why... what would have changed on the Optoma's that would make them incompatible?? I'm looking at these aswell but am kind of confused as they need an emitter?

Fit All 3D Glasses 4 and Emitter for DLP TV's Projectors HD33 HD300X Etc | eBay

Can anyone recommend some glasses?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick response. Do I need the emitter? What is the difference between this type what the type that Rob127 mentioned (Vesa)

I.e. does the HD300x have a built in emitter? If so could i just buy these glasses as opposed to a set with the emitter?

Thanks!
