Thanks: Gave 5, Got 4 | Sanyo Z2.... What DVD player?
Should be receiving my Sanyo Z2 tomorrow, but in two (or three) minds regarding a new DVD player to take advantage of progressive scan / DVI input (replacing my Philips Q50).
Would it be best to go Denon 2200 (£300), Denon 1910 (£200), HK22 (£235) ... other suggestions?? Also seen an Arcam 78 for £500 ish.. (Would not have any budget to replace my Yamaha RXV795 receiver then!)
Help, help, help
What do the rest of you Z2 owners use?
Thanks in advance..
Darren

I'm gonna cause uproar and say HTPC, more flexible and upgradeable, loads of uses, although if all you want is a DVD source, one of the DVI players would make sense

Only want to use it for DVD play in a dedicated room, plus only really have a max budget of £500. |

I used a Momitsu V880 originally with my Z2, one of the cheaper 720p/DVI group of players along with Bravo D1/D2, Yamakawa 365, Samsung 935 etc. Those are all below £200, the 'down side' tends to be they need to be obtained from Europe mostly, though I think the Samsung is available in the UK.
Of those you list I'd probably go with the HK, only because in the past Denon have had problems with multi-region firmware causing lockups, freezes etc. even on high-end machines like the 3800 series, maybe that's behind them but the HK have always been rated very high in value-for-money terms.

Not really into HTPC .... yet! However, thanks for your input.
KraGorn,
Is it worth using the DVI input as apposed to a good progressive source like the HK or Arcam?

I was addressing your question which seemed to indicate that the you wanted to use DVI.
Generally DVI is cleaner than component, that said the difference can be minimal depending on the equipment used and it's many months since I had my Z2. At that time I had the V880 using DVI and a Sony 935 using component and V880 was better, but that may have been due to the Sony not being that great.
Have a search on here for the Samsung and see what sorts of comments owners had, that may help, it's one of the more popular of the cheap DVI group since it's available locally.
