Toddy - was the seal on your HD33 box broken?

Mine looks like it had a white seal on with english and chinese writing on which was broken, but on top of that there was a round black/white Optoma seal which was intact and the top of the box taped up with clear tape with SECURITY CHECKED all over it.

Did yours come like that? IntoAV spoke with Optoma and said its because they dont package the specs with them until it reaches the UK.

At the moment it's just projecting the image onto the wall and i want to buy a screen as on the lighter images i can see the pattern of the wall paper in the image, to be honest you really dont notice it unless you really look because you are engrossed in the film. The room has cream wall's and a white carpet .... not an ideal colour scheme but at night the picture is awesome. Am i right in thinking because i have such a light coloured room i need to get a grey screen? could anyone point me in the direction of a motorised 120-150" screen

Also i'm looking at getting some 3d glasses, now i have seen you can get the optoma rf ones, dlp ones also and nvidia also do some i think to go with their grfx cards. i have a media pc with an 8800 gt in it and watch my content with this pc. Can i ask which road to go down for the best image and are the most comfortable to wear. I have also seen maplins do dlp ones for about £40 are they any good?

cheers

I bought one of these to replace a smaller OWL screen. Very very happy with it

Othelloline Tab Tensioned Home Theatre Screens Range ? 16:9 Ratio

Got a good price for a quality product. Bought it direct from the importers.

I have a white screen in a magnolia and white room and see no reason for a grey screen.

No probs, it all looks untouched anyway and everything is as expected in the box. Hopefully its on C03 f/w, looks like a date of 10/11 on the box.

EDIT - was wrong with the date, was looking at something else, no date on the box!

So are we betting how long it takes you to get this up and running! I can't help feeling it won't be long!

I'd be surprised if the 33 and 300X have different menus, afaik they're the same. But I've been wrong before.

On a separate note, got an ND2 filter for my 300X to reduce the brightness/lower the black floor. Quite impressed with it. I find the image a tad bright in 2D. Will start a thread about it with photos if I get the time.

Optoma periodically check units and if it has there "quality checked" sealant with there logo place on it, you've noting to worry about! It just means Optoma in the UK have spot checked your projector to ensure it has all the right components in the box.

Most Manufacturers have so form of QC with products.

Looking forward to your impressions (and hopefully pics ) emporer, you might just persuade me to get off my backside and order this thing , like you it's been too long I've been without a projector and it seems daft when i've got the screen and mount etc already! Might just get this and sell my 59" Sammy Plasma

I'll be rigging it up as soon as I get home after 6pm, should be simple enough as all the cabling is in place from before and I can mount the screen in almost the same spot on the joists so that will be easy, then its just a couple of holes for the shelf and job done I hope.

I'll be testing out quite a few discs etc tonight and i'll report back with how things are.

They have diffrent firmware the 300 might be able to do it but it's not enabled in its firmware

Mine was also in this state when received I would not worry about it everything inside was untouched. Mine was purchased in Finland so I am guessing they put the correct plug instructions etc later.

Toddy,
I did see that in the manual and wondered why it wasnt showing on my hd33, so you are saying they only become available once a calibrator has set it up? How does that work ?

Just had a look at the pdf manual for the glasses and emitter, all that fine tuning etc seems awfully overcomplicated, hope mine will be fine out of the box.

Quick question.

Will the HD300 do the 3D with blu ray players without the Optoma 3DXL. I am thinking yes.

Just spent all evening getting it all up and running, still stuff left to do but the bulk of it is done.

I have an issue with my 10m hdmi cable though and this needs solving first, its struggling with any kind of 1080p signal, and even 720p wouldnt work, I remember having issues like this when I rigged up my old HD67, I assume that Optoma's hdmi circuitry is sensetive as my old Sony had no probs. Anyway its good for 1080i but anything progressive right now its not working, although I did get a 1080p24 signal once from the BD deck and tried Transformers, wow, impressive aint the word!

Ive ordered a hdmi signal booster thingy from ebay, pretty sure thats whats needed as previously with my HD67 it played up but as soon as I got a 3dxl and had that on the end of the cable and another 5m cable to the pj then it solved all the issues and would happily pass through upto 1080p60 from then on, so i figure its a signal issue and hopefully i'll get this little box on Friday and test it out, should do the job, fingers crossed!

Overall though very impressed, the sharpness is amazing and the picture is just so detailed, its a world of difference from the HD67, ive had to use a touch of keystone to get a square image but its unavoidable, cant notice any difference though which is good.

The Grandview Cyberscreen tab tensioned is just sublime, probably the best screen i've ever owned, so nice and refined and as flat as glass.

More views coming in the next few days as I fiddle and tweak more and more and hopefully this hdmi booster will do the trick.

Going to do some more testing tonight, a mate is bringing round his 3dxl so i'll have that on the end of my 10m and then a short hdmi to the pj, hopefully it will amplify via the 3dxl just on passthrough mode and give a good 1080p signal. If it works then the booster I ordered will hopefully do the same.

I also need to fiddle around more with placement and get the screen drop sorted, so another night of playing!

Is it possible to change your hdmi lead ?
You should not have any trouble with a good 10m cable
