Mine is on C03, it will be interesting to see what other people's results are with the different f/w that are out there.

I'm using a HD300x with C02 firmware in conjunction with a Himedia 900B and Panasonic DMP-BDT110 Blu-Ray and see no problems

so your edge mask is at 0 and on 24p material you dont have any tearing on the bottom 40mm of the image? obviously this is only for full widescreen so no black bars

It has to be a 16:9 movie as it uses the whole screen, if its got black bars then you wont see the tearing as its the bottom 40mm of the screen image, I found it easiest to see when watching an animation, Bee Movie or Toy Story, something like that and it was very evident to see.

I have tried Toy Story and have edge mask set at 0 and see no problems, the only problem I have with the projector is freezing when switching devices sometimes (mainly the 900B)

Tested loads on full screen and even zoomed the image to fill the whole screen on a widescreen film and dark night IMAX bits and all was ok , I have pure motion turned of for 2d and on for 3d

Thanks for testing guys, I do now think mine is faulty, if nobody else with similar or exact same equipment is exhibiting the same problems then it has to be faulty, plus i've ruled out my AV equipment as it still happened when I connected a bluray deck directly to the pj with a 1m cable.

I think i've just been unlucky to have 2 faulty units and screens! I suppose thats just me though, i've always had very bad luck in life so perhaps it shouldnt come as too much of a suprise.

I hoped this wouldn't happen, but my HD33 has started to play up. A pixel wide band, vertically, top to bottom, dead centre of the image. It's most noticable on 3D content, followed by 2D BD. Not visible in HD and SD broadcasts. Not 100% sure what's happened since it isn't there all the time.

Depending on how the next few days go, a quick call to the retailer might be required (I cant bear the thought of going more than 24 hours without the PJ though)...

I've heard of two other cases of this. Can you see the problem with the PJ's menu on screen? If so, it's nothing to do with the input signal and the PJ is faulty. In which case, join the club

Try resetting all the settings in the menu, I've seen people fixing the "missing pixel row" by fully resetting.

I have a Sharp XV-Z21000 projector which when released originally was about £7000 and was often at the time compared directly to the JVC HD1. Does anyone know how this is likely to compare to the much cheaper hd33? Will it be a noticeable improvement on the 2D front?

Regards,

Neil

Alas I had narrowed my choice to this or the Epson 5900/6000....but guess what CHIC on this forum kindly let me check out his optoma (a slightly older mode with the 3d xl)...it was absolutely stunning in 2d with rich blacks...and the 3d was fabulous....until I put on SIN CITY and then I noticed a curious anomoly I had never seen before on my present Panny a700....rianbow effect....arrgghhhh !!!! Oh well looks like its Epson for me....sorry to say Im disappointed.

I would go for a demo the hd33 has a faster colour wheel and people that normaly see rainbows have reported they haven't seen them and sin city Is one of the hardest films for a dlp projector to do with out rainbow effect ,

My 2nd HD33 will be swapped over this week apparantly, I hope its 3rd time lucky!

I used the edge mask to 1 so it crops off the tearing section and I get a nice clean image, zoomed it in so it filled the screen nicely, thought to myself this will do until its swapped, I stuck on a 3d blu (Moster In Paris, great film) and in 3d mode the edge masking obviously doesnt work and it then overlapped the edges of the screen! I cant win!

Amazon are very good with returns. You could get hd300x from them for £989.99 and return it if you see rainbows.

Just got mine going the last couple of weeks, took me this long to get the room finished! Bought it on boxing day when Amazon were doing them for £936.99.

Very impressed for the price, I just need to make a small adjustment to the 3D emitter to remove the blue shadowing.

I haven't seen much pop out so far; I have watched Christmas Carol, The Hole and Captain America Blu Ray 3D discs. Hopefully this will improve with different discs? Even if it doesn't it will still be a fantastic picture in 3D though.

2D is a little bright, I plan on trying guitarman's (avsforum) settings (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...97&postcount=1) to try and turn the brightness down a bit in 2D. Having said that the detail in 2D is fantastic for the price of the PJ.

Hi,

I'm trying to watch 3D movies from my laptop using the VGA output into VGA input of the projector. However, it wont allow me to switch to any of the 3D modes (SBS) so I'm left watching to images side by side rather than fused together.

Any ideas how to switch on SBS mode when using VGA input?

Shades,
I wonder if you have to make sure that your VGA is at a certain resolution and refresh rate?

Everyone,
Looks like a good tip for tuning the 3D:

Any suggestions as to what resolution and refresh rates Matt?

And for those owners who have the dreaded one pixel line down the center. As already mentioned, go into menu and click reset and this should remove the problem. Mine was a few days old when this presented itself but the fix worked and hasn't returned since.

Have a look at page 51 of the manual, has a list of 3D input video compatibility.
See attached.
Looks like you might have to use HDMI or use some software (if it exists) on your PC to convert the SBS to frame sequential.

When a new source or film from my media player is played so the projector resolution changes (from the menu 1080p 60hz to the film 1080p 24) the screen flickers for a couple seconds and the colours change as well , and takes ages to lock on to the new signal (10 seconds or so )

Does anyone else have this , once this happens every time the film is fine I was just wondering if they all do this

I used the monster 3d glasses app last night to adjust my optoma rf glasses emitter.

Very easy to use.

Adjusted delay from the default of 450 us to 820 us which removed the blue ghosting I was getting.

I've left the duty cycle at the default of 105% for now. Lowering it didn't remove any of the remaining ghosting, should have tried raising it a bit and then fine tuning the delay. I suppose it should be more than 100% as the glasses will have a turn on time delay; so 105% is actually < 100% due to the time it takes the glasses to fully switch on a lens. Should be able to find out what this can be pushed to by bumping up the duty cycle a little. .. but is allot better than it was for now and guess there won't be anything more visible to get out of it (110% looks the same as 105%..)
