that is sad to hear but please don`t discount the Epson yet.

also the boxes may have been opened so the distributor can put the glasses or wireless components inside, i`m not saying thats for certain but it could be the reason.

when you say the shop has had all of them returned, I find this to be strange as Epson themselves handle all warranty claims and not the shop where it was purchased, i`m not saying this is untrue but just a little strange as its completley the opposite way that we Epson dealers operate under their warranty terms.

as yet we have no complaints at all with this new release of 9000`s or indeed the 6000 models as well, and I have to say the Epson warranty is second to none.

I cant see the boxes being opened to put glasses inside as the projector comes with the glasses and transmitter as standard and they are integrated into the box not a bonus when you buy one (I would thought you would know this if you deal with them). I am returning the projector to the shop as Ive only had them a few days and as all waranties I have ever had say contact the shop not manufacturer. if I had owned the projector for quite a while I would have contacted Epson but faulty out of the box is always a shop return as far as I am concerned. I am not doubting Epsons Warranty I am doubting their quality control at factory level. Maybe the shop I purchased from is just really looking after their customers to ensure they are happy, so far I am really impressed with them and will go back to them in the future. If I had called them and they told me to call epson myself I would have been really unimpressed.

Hi

with regard to the opening the box issue, I think you are wrong to assume the boxes aren`t unopened to put any accessories inside.

Accessories, such as the 3d glasses are often made by a third party company so the projectors that Epson UK have delivered may have to be opened in the UK to put these accessories inside the box.

This procedure is not just unique to Epson btw. so I actually do know this to be true as a dealer.

Also its not uncommon for a dealer to test the units before shipping

I can understand your frustration though and I myself would have maybe felt as you do having 2 units faulty.

I also would have replaced the units for you rather than asking you to contact Epson themselves in such a short time

Concerning the box "taped twice" issue raised, my TW6000 was the same. This was the first batch direct from distribution, so not a return.
It is my understanding that the power cables were swapped over to UK spec cables in Germany.

I agree, mine was double taped due to the uk power lead being put in. For info it was one of the first into the country in December.

just to add

I have just opened a projector box to include 3 extra sets of 3d glasses so making 5 in total.

it makes sense to me to do this so they all arrive together in the same delivery.

I'm more of a reader (and there is a lot too read!) than a poster but I've finally got myself a projector and I have to say I'm blown away by this Epson. I've only had it over the weekend and have seen a couple of films including Casino Royale and I'm chuffed to bits with it.

Haven't tried 3D yet as I was waiting for my Yamaha v1067 to arrive today - which it has

Once my removable blackout solution is in place then I can only assume it will get better. Highly recommended by me - although I bought this blind and have nothing to compare it with. I will post some pics once I get the chance.

Thank you AVForums!

We've finally seen the Epson here at Roy Jowett AV and say it's quite a stunner. My thoughts of where the product would be were right on the mark and after have a great demo with our Epson rep together with us viewing a few of it's competition I'm happy to report that if you really are looking to see what it's direct competition is then look toward the Panasonic PT-AT5000e and Themescene HD83. Both of these 3D projector equally match the Epson in overall performance with the Themescene offering a little more sharpness. The Epson was the brightest and the Panasonic offered the slightly better coloured textures.

All in all it was a great test.

The only down side was looking at the JVC's X70r after and seeing these PJ's in action. It was an amazing eye-opener when playing an SD movie. It was almost as good as the three model mentioned above in HD. An amazing feet and one that's making me ask how am I going to look at another projector without e-shift technology!

Regards, Shane

For those that are ceiling mounting their PJ, which mount are you using? I've seen the Epson ceiling mount mentioned (which allows some lateral movement) but would like to know your recommendations on the best one to use. I'll be mounting it close to the ceiling.

That's the one I'm about to buy, however only two of those 4 holes will connect into a stud, other two just into plasterboard. Will this be safe enough?

Btw, this pj is great . Even with ambient light, 3d football was superb, and movies in the evening are superb! Thks

if you really want to mount it close to the ceiling then we use these

I know its showing a JVC but they are made for Epson as well, they sit the pj approx 25mm from the ceiling and really do look very neat as none of the fixings are showing once the pj is on the mount.

With regards to my need to have the top of the screen approx 2ft below that of the ceiling would the epson tw9000 still allow me to project the image size i want without a problem with the large vertical gap (distance between projector and screen 3-3.5m)

Also the dnp 23:23 i believe "cuts out light from above" would this cause a problem as the projector is so high compared to the screen?

Thank you.

That mount looks great - how does the projector 'click in' to the ceiling plate, and is there a danger of it being dislodged and falling out?

I have the same issue as a previous poster. My screen starts about 200mm from the ceiling. Would having the projector mounted higher than this cause problems? I'm thinking the LCD shift would be able to cope with this.

Also where are the ventilation grills for the projector when mounted on the plate and how close can I have it to a wall?

If able I want to put its back end against my back wall to maximize my space.

the projectors feet are removed and they are replaced with some round metal ones, these slot into the keyhole slots on the mounting plate.

then the mounting plate comes with some small bolts which lock the pj so it can`t move back, really very simple.

it cannot move at all once locked into position so no fear of it coming adrift, also if your ceiling isn`t quite square. the mount comes with a flat spanner so you can adjust the new feet to level it up, really very simple but ingenious.

the vents are front and rear, not underneath.

Remember you have cables coming out of the rear of the pj to allow for, i`d say it can go as close as 50mm to the rear wall without issues.

Hi Herbie

they were initially designed for the 5500 and as its the same footprint I can see no reason why it won`t fit the 3200

no worries about taking your time,we/you have to get this right.........

or it will be wrong and we can`t have that

if you can wait until I can open one tomorrow i`ll measure the hole distances for you, as I remember their are 9 holes.

For you info, our X30 in the demo room which weighs 15 kgs, the bracket you see in the pics is fixed into the plaster board using 4 spring loaded toggles, each toggle is rated at 15kgs as well and they are about 3 quid from B&Q .

Its as solid as a rock and been their for 6 weeks or so and is going no where.

does anyone game on this projector? does it have the equivalent to a tv's game mode?

I will be connecting my xbox to my amp and then my amp to my projector and was concerned with others reporting lag while gaming specially in 3D and wondered what everyone's experiences where with this projector
