It will be interesting to see how this is priced into the market - going head to head with the AE700 (and the TX100, to a lesser extent).


Wishing for a side by side test of the AE700, this and (hopefully) the Sony HS50 akin to the side-by side test carried out by cine4home earlier this year.

Well it certainly sounds interesting although I agree that the quicker a head-to-head takes place between the Z3 and the Panny 700 the better.

Nice translation although I do have to wonder what 'Without Kalbierung one should not sell the part however to laymen. And the Freaks cannot have enough parameters for rotation' means. Not that I should criticise any of course...

The sooner, THIS and the new SONY are out the better.
They are all 3 gonna be head to head, with (I guess) only the odd couple of £100 between them (the sony with their own panels) Christmas time will be interesting

I thought that the Sony was going to be around £1800-£2000 on release. Which does stretch whether it can be directly compared to the Z3 and the 700

True. For me it's down to the AE700 v Z3 v PJ-TX100 simply due to the HS50's cost.

Oh, if that's the case then of course it's in a different price bracket.

It would seem rather stupid of Sony to make their projector of similar (same?) spec that much more expensivethan the 3 other BIG models.

If Sony's 6000:1 contrast ratio turns out to be even half right, then it would be worth the premium - also of interest is that the Sony will not use the same panels as the TX100/AE700/Z3 - Sony are using new 1280x720 panels so we can look forward to no VB hopefully. The processing is also 12 bit so it's really a substantial step-up from the others - as ever the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

Yes, I guess you are right..........

I do recall (somewhere) in recent weeks (just before the A700 was out) someone at some trade fair saying the Pannie and the Sony looked about the same (don't recall any comments about the Sony's Black level being better in reality)
But yes, their new panels (hopefully) will be good.
Though to be honest (like Mhz on PC's_ I dunno how much it will impress people in general as they are the same res as even the AE500

Now if we were upping the res to that new size (which I can't remember!!)
You know, the ones that (really) the AE700 should have used (or rather people hoped it was going to use) then that would be something.

Wonder how far we are off the AE900 ?

I guess it's pretty much take the 700 chassis and add the new panels.

Of all the LCD projectors I have seen and demoed, the Sony models - HS2, HS3, HS10 and 20 exhibit no vertical banding and no noise to my eyes, when compared to machines like the Sanyo Z1, AE300, 500 and so on.

This new Sony sounds very interesing especially if it is in the sub £2k price range.

I like the fact that they have also included a diy dust remover kit, they probably got fed up of people returning the Z2 for cleaning not that i have had a problem with mine mind you touch wood.

It also seems they have improved the onboard processing over the Z2 which tbh did need improving.

All we need now is the HS50 review, hopefully in a lot more detail though.
