Sanyo Z3 Dust Cleaning....!

Sorry if this is old news.....

But did we all know about the Z3 having holes and a puffer built in so you can clean dust of inside the machine without taking anything apart ?

Yeah, that cropped up on the radar some time back - spotted a picture of said duster gizmo in promo pictures.

.... give sanyo'spropensity for getting dust inside them it's about time.... a better soloution would be sealed optics.....


Still better than nothing, I suppose.

Yup, know exactly what you mean.

This AE700 really feels like a stop gap model.
Like the REAL next model will come soon (with the PLEASE GOD) new panels which I keep hearing about (this autumn?) and this will help shift some more stock till it comes out.

Oh how I wish the Sony HS20 was short throw, I don't think the Pannies would be getting much of a look in then.

Some of the top-end digital SLR's use ultrasonics to shake any dust off the CCD.. maybe this could be used on LCD panels..

I guess this is a stupid question, but why don't they just design these things with sealed optics in the 1st place and avoid this issue.
I'm sure people would say an extra £50 or even £100 if it offered sealed optics with no dust problem.

The thing is all high quality cameras have autofocus options - autofocus works by reflecting ultrasonics. Thats whay its easy for them to use ultrasonics to clean the CCD, projectors unfortunately dont have autofocus.... yet :O

I thought the Ultrasonics where used in the Lenses as part of the Motor for focusing.. i.e. USM lenses?? So CCD ultrasonics is completely seperate, and could easily be applied to LCD panels.... I would imagine that this would be better then a simple puffer blower... and since you can buy Ultrosonic tooth brushes, the technology is peanuts, cost wise...
