My Sony HS10 is broken :(

Just put a film on and for no apprarant reason the HS10 is outputting on what seems like a low colour mode. It appears very bad with reds casusing massive pixelation and colour distortion. I have tried all the outputs on my Momitsu and also tried my pannasonic 35 player all having the same problem. Now I did notice that when trying the component input the picture was changing as I moved the cables around in the sockets. Now this too me indicates a problem with the connections on the projector. Now the projector was fine a week ago when I used it last and it has been on its trolly out of the way all week. What makes things worse is I bought it 2nd hand on this forum about 4/5 months ago and have no warranty. Does anyone know what sony charge for repairs? I dont see how this can have happened unless I accidently pulled the cable not knowing it while it was out of use during the week. The output appears to be fine on the memory stick mode. Any other advice welcome.

What input is the problem coming through? VGA (Computer), VIDEO (RCA Input) or Svideo? Have you tried another cable?

I have tried all inputs (DVI, Component, Composite, SVideo) and have the same problem on all.

If you've tried as different player sounds like it's the PJ. Are you connecting direct to PJ or via amp. You say it's on a trolley ? Might you have yanked the cables at the PJ end and damaged something internally ?

Either way it looks like a Sony jobby. They've closed down there Heathrow Service Centre so not sure where they service the PJ's now ? Give them a call and find out...oh and be prepared, it's usually a sit down job to get your breath back when Sony quote on a repair ...that's if they decide to do it which cannot be a given with them BOL !
