Looking into your projector lens - When Black

I know this will not be any supprise to most people, but I am amaised at just how bright it is when you look into the lens of your projector when it's running and projecting no image (just all black)
It still LOOKS like there's a hell of a bright beam coming out from the lens.

I know I'm talking about LCD here but it still supprised me.

I would like to see how a DLP compaires, when running a black screen and looking down the lens

As you said this is no surprise. DLP should be much less, because all mirrors should be deflecting the light away.
What is a surprise is why you would want to look into the beam :-) it could be dangerous if it turns to bright suddenly.
