they are aware of it,thats where i got this from.its basicaly optomas fault, they have packaged just glasses with the pj and sent out kits as glasses,if you have ordered a extra set of glasses you will get the emitter with them.

i only live 20 mile away so was able to just have a ride over and collect it.
its definately a crisper picture in 2d compared to my old pj,so far so good, when the match has finished i will ahve more of a play with it so if anyone wants to know specifics then ask away and i will do my best to answer.

managed to get another set up and working, the glasses are a bit flimsy, the switch could and should have been made more like the nvidia glasses switch.cant fault the picture or the pj yet but the glasses feel cheap and nasty.they are effective when they are working though.in 3d the picture is amazing, the colours are so vivid,as bright as the acer 5360 also.

I have got a demo at end of next week if I want one but I think I am going to wait till mid october whenI have got the cash so I can buy straight away if I like it so will go a bit later it's also an hour drive but hey it's worth it I think.

I have a little dilemma though.... You are all saying that the hd 33 comes with glasses but the supplier I just talked to today who said would demo said it does not.. I live in Finland would it be a different package than U.K.? I would of thought not as it's eu...now I'm confused. Let me know if it comes with glasses maybe I can get him to put in for me for free as I'm blowing my load on this.

yes it comes with a set of glasses and should also come with the emitter.cant imagine it being different for other areas of the eu,i think the cheaper version in the states wasnt supplied with glasses.

Glad your initial look has you feeling happy Ian and glad that it is as bright as the acer h5360 after you spend some time with it could you give us more info on the brightness levels especially in 3d mode, cheers.

the brightness level in 3d is as bright as the acer, maybe even a little brighter due to a higher resolution.in 2d and otb settings its bright enough but perhaps not as bright as my previous mits, however the contrast is higher which makes up for it,definately more colourfull.

just tried blu ray iso with corel win dvd on the pc and yes it plays at 1080p/24 with fantastic 3d.
tried using stereoscopic player and had some success with mkv files but i need to find out what the correct settings need to be,on my laptop screen i have it set to nvidia 3d vision in playback but i think through the 33 its going to need a different playback mode.... will look into it more when i get more time over the weekend.

is it worth the money????? iwould say so.
is it better 3d expeience overall than the acer?? yes.
is it better 2d than other hd pj's?? maybe not BUT its still crystal clear and superb.

overall for the average bloke in the street which i consider myself as then yes its a worthwhile purchase and i do consider it as a upgrade from what i had with the added bonus of 1 unit instead of 2 so the room is also tydier so get some points off the wife for that.

Think I'm going to opt for a hopefully bargain price HD20, as I have a weak eye and 3D doesn't work for me. General concensus so far seems that on 2D the '33 isn't the step up that I may have hoped for.

I am thinking of picking up this PJ, I am coming from a Themescene 72i so hopefully will see an improvement in 2D image as going from 720 to 1080p and have the added advantage of having 3D, now my question:

I have my current optoma PJ ceiling mounted at the moment and was wanting to do a straight swap without having to do loads of adjustments, like re citing the mount, could anyone advise if this seems feasible.

Also I have it connected via HDMI cable thats hidden in wall, it is capable of taking a 1080p feed at moment as I sometimes feed it that which it then downscales to 720P would this be capable of taking a 3D signal as the info on the net is not that clear, most of my source 3D material will be blueray rips at around 15G so not massive bandwidth, if not then I will be forced to rip out cable, replace and then re-plaster...not good.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

3D rips tend to be 1920x1080 half-sbs, which is just a standard 1080p frame, and can be transmitted fine over your existing cables. Blu-ray 3D uses frame packing (each frame being approx. 1920x2205) to send a full resolution image to left and right eyes, and this requires HDMI 1.4 cables.

PS Has anyone with the HD33 noticed frame tearing (a 1/3 down the screen) and a loss of settings, as both have been reported elsewhere.

It's not true about 1.4 cables it's the hdmi socket that's rated 1.4 the cables are not rated in this way any high speed hdmi cable should work
All my 4 year old qed cables work fine

It's more of a marketing thing branding cables 1.4

If you have a quality highspeed hdm cable it should work , it a suck it a see deal

Hi Guys,
Im also thinking about this pj, however due to my room layout the pj is going to be 18ft away from the screen, this means a large screen size (152" Diag) do you guys think this projector will be bright and sharp at this size? I know my screen will have to be high gain too. I may be able to drop this a few feet and have some longer cables (not ideal tho) but that still gonna give me screen size of 126".
What size screens do you guys have with this pj?

Cheers

i got mine from roy jowett,as far as i am aware they had a stock delivery on friday so i guess they should still have stock, unless they have all sold out, think toddy maybe buying up all the glasses though!!

on the subject of glasses i do have to say that these rf ones function great but they are realy awkward to turn on and i should imagine to turn off once i can figure out how to do that part.

What are Awooza like as a retailer? They have this for £1,105.99 + free delivery.

Any further news on the Epson rival for this projector? I am looking on behalf of my grandparents as they are wanting to upgrade from current to 3D.

Cheers

Awooza are based in hong kong and there hd33 is different to the uk (lower spec and no glasses) and no 3 year warranty and you could also be hit with import charges so it could end up costing a lot more then a uk version

On an item like this go with a uk seller

Ask the question about your screen in the projector screen section , I dont no much about screens some one will point you in the correct direction but tell them about your room to get the best help

Mine is a grandview motorised cyber screen with a 1.1 gain and I'm very happy with it, payed £300 for it think i got a good deal, in the future when I have some spare cash I'm going to go for a tab tensioned screen

Would be interested to hear opinions on the rf glasses versus the DLP-link ones. The latter can be got for £30-40 compared with the rf types which are around £79. Are the advantages that great?

I need about 6 pairs so price is a really big factor!
