I see Sony are showing this at the Bristol show in a few weeks, I was reading a website earlier (what hifi I think) and it lists the exhibitors etc, it stated that Sony would be showing this with upscaled and native 4k content, what method would be employed to display this native content? really looking forward to seeing this in action only because I could never in a million years actually afford one!

Just seen a "LOTR" Super-trailer 4K on you tube along with various landscape and sea scape films, would be great if I could get them playing through the Sony.....

Can it be done?

You might want to buy something on interest free that won't be out of date before the payments are finished

as speedy as tech gets past its sell by date, hopefully the sony should have a few years of life in it as the upscaling should be a mere starter..the main course and benefit will be seen when the native material appears

i suppose the only thing that can go wrong is that something happens in the industry and that the native material doesnt appear...in which case early adopters are left with one hell of an expensive upscaling tool

Neil

you have to see this Sony, its mind blowingly good with everything i`ve chucked at it so far.

it was good down at Sony a couple of weeks ago but that one was only 1500 lumens (only ), this now at 2000 lumens really is quite something.

Be warned though, nothing i`ve seen so far compares to this Sony so you`ll have to get plenty of copper pipework installed as once seen you`ll never want for anything else

I echo what David and Steve have said so far, its the next level for sure

interesting Steve I never thought of 4k youtube video so I`ll give that a whirl later on if I get the time, the super duper LOTR 4K one is just fantastic.

Totally agree with your statements regarding this awesome projector, spent hours yesterday playing around with it, with so many different clips, that to be honest made me want to watch the entire movies.

Playing between 235:1 and 16:9 was an absolute doddle, and lined up perfectly every time.

Material I used.......

Ratatouille, the scene that you mention, as the Thunder and shotguns absolutely rock.

Gladiator......looked so filmic if there is such a word, surprised to see just how badly poc marked Russell Crowe's face is, 4K is not actor/Actress friendly.

King Kong..........sublime...freeze frame at the end of the movie when Kong is sitting at the top of the Empire Building, just before the planes come in, if you freeze at a close up head shot........then go between ON/OFF with the Reality Creation the difference is staggering.

Dark Knight....beginning and the Hospital explosion scenes are mental.

Slumdog Millionaire.......vibrant colours.

T2.... Very old Bluray but looks better than ever.

Jurassic Park......

Transformer revenge of the fallen.........immense.

And my favourite of the day was Seabiscuit.......textures, gorgeous colours, the final horse race C26 I think......makes you feel as though you are at the Derby.........incredible.

Were the colors absolutely spot on out of the box? I have a hold up in buying this as I understand there is no CMS at all...

to be honest, it's impressive enough just with upscaled Bluray, and virtually justifies itself on that score. With this PJ, and the future of 4K2K to come, I doubt anyone in their right mind would pay out much more than £5k on a non 4K projector now.

It's just nice that we're finally getting a huge step in picture performance since the introduction of HD. With players available from next year, it's an exciting time. I'm assuming that film companies will have to make sure that any 4K2K releases aren't skimped on, as with a picture this revealing, any corner cutting will really show up. So hopefully, EVERY 4K release/remaster should look as good as the source. No more laziness...

It's no 'big step' Asif - it's like comparing a top notch, full HD PJ to an old non HD PJ! It's another world mate! Really, this is what real film fans have been waiting for...

With the size i am, i think its best if i stand behind it! *If i do manage to obtain one, i hope the native material lands eventually.*

Do we know whats going on with the cms? Are sony looking to add something via an update?

Even on an ipad, the footage looked pretty good and that screen is also a good size. The sony has only recieved praise so far so i wonder what negatives, if any are attached to it.

And Bluray should see us through 4K2K as well - I would assume up until the point where this country has caught up with the Broadband speeds of the rest of the world, then we can be streaming 4K2K. Or maybe even 8K4K - who knows?!
