Question H30 recommended settings?

Hi,

I have a H30 projecting on to a DRH screen in 16:9 format.

I've played around with the settings but sometimes, the dark areas don't seem dark enough. I have the contrast cranked up fairly high (+35) and brightness is around +10 to enable me to see the white/light bits better. The lamp is running in economy mode.

I feel as though I should be able to get better. Does anyone have recommended settings for the H30?

What test card/picture/method have you used to get the picture in focus?

I watch movies with the curtains drawn (it's normally night time anyway) and a small lamp on.

Thanks!

Al.

Have a look on the offical H30 thread on the avsforum. Guitarman has posted a few different settings.

Cheers,

Shaun

Al,

Get yourself a copy of "Avia Guide To Home Theater" DVD

That way you will know you have all your settings optimised

Jeff

Hi,
thanks for the info. Can you tell me what the link to the H30 thread is? I can't work it out.

I also did a search on user guitarman but nothing obvious came up related to the H30.

Thanks,

Al.

According to this post (and the reply) on avsforum:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...30#post4076230

posting numbers will not help you out since it seems each H30 is different out of the box and calibrated h30s seem to have settings that vary by a large margin - calibration depends on quite a few factors including your particular bulb, your video source, your screen etc...

As mentioned above, your best best is to use Avia, DVE (Digital Video Essentials DVD) or the THX Optimode that appears on some DVDs - I think the Indiana Jones box set has PAL optimode on it - a google search for THX Optimode will help you out.
