Infocus 4805 vs Optoma H30 shootout

Just a quick note to mention that there was a 4805 vs H30 shootout on avsforum yesterday, first report here:

A bit off-topic, but the 4805 seems quite expensive to me at a rrp of £1300. the Toshiba 100 at £1050 seems much better value.

The Toshiba MT100 (if that's what you're referring to) is more comparable with an Infocus X1............... the 4805 is a different projector with a 16x9 DMD and a higher speed colour wheel. The £300 (or thereabouts) price difference would be well worth the reduction in rainbow effect (for those who are prone to seeing it) and for the reduction in light spill.

Yup, the MT100 is an Infocus X1 clone (also known as the Screenplay 4800).

So far, it seems that the following apply:

Out of the box, the 4805 is pretty close to a colourfacts calibrated 4805, so not much tweaking is required to get the best out of this projector.

H30 is nowhere near a decent calibration out of the box and require much more tweaking.

After calibration, both projectors produce a superb image - the H30 having "more natural reds and greens".

Focus on the 4805 is better than the H30.

4805 has more noticable screen-door.

4805 is brighter (and louder, but by no means noisy).

All in all, a pretty even match it would seem.
