First projector - Infocus 5700 ?

Looking to buy my first projector over next couple of weeks and have narrowed down to the IF 5700. Had a couple of demos and very impressed.

Will be projecting 15ft onto a 7ft screen, sat 12ft back with dimmer lighting in 2 zones.

5700 seems ideal for my uses (Sky+, DVD and Xbox), but how good will HDTV be through the 5700 when it appears in 2-3 years time? As res is 1024x576, I presume it will scale down a little, but still be better than current Sky+ and DVD...?

7200 is tempting at only 800 quid more, but 7205 is too much at 5k.

Thanks,

- Lee

Lee,

The 5700 is a good projector but I have recently seen the Domino20 which, Im affraid, knocked 10 bells out of the InFocus. It is certainly worth a look before you jump in! I have seen loads of HDTV material and even though it will be down scaled to match you projectors resolution the image will be twice as good as DVD, it's like looking though a window.

Phil

Have you seen the H77 spec, looks like this will blow the Domino away

I would be interested to see how the H77 compares to the 7205....

Has anyone done this comparison yet?

The H77 does sound like a good bit of kit but you cant beat Sim's glass optics 8000hrs lamp life and ability to position the unit almost anywhere!

I have tryed out a few proj's and the dom20 was the lowest spec'd unit but gave the best result.
