The short answer to the title of your thread is no, imo, for a little more money (about £1000) you'll be able to get a projector with a native widescreen panel, (the model you indicated is probably a 4:3 panel which is capable of doing widescreen), the model you've quoted has a very low contrast ratio by current standards and is too bright. 36db is also too noisy by the standards of currently available models - 29db or lower would be acceptable. Have a look at the hitachi tx100, or any of the other projectors currently in vogue. If the price issue is constrained, bide your time for a while - you'll have no problem picking up a decent secondhand projector on the hardware for sale forums here for £800 or less...............
