Hi, I am having the exact same problem. Unfortunately the VGA input on my projector (Clearco HD9000) will only accept a signal from a PC, and the output from my Sky+ plus box via SCART is RGB and totally uncompatible with VGA. The only option you have is to purchase a scaler to convert the RGB signal to VGA (the expensive option) or the cheaper option is to use the S-video connection on the Sky+ box to your projector (if you have a S-video input on your projector). To be honest I find the S-video picture to be most acceptable and avoids the need to spend hundreds of pounds on a RGB to VGA scaler. Hope this helps. Steve

Try the right adapter for £20 first - see the main owners thread. Sky HD connects via hdmi not scart !

Hi jb, I find the Clearco HD9000 projector a very good budget projector. I purchased mine as part of a package from http://visualtronic.co.uk/epages/esh...0/Categories/5 that included the projector, spare bulb, screen, ceiling mount and a surround sound system. The main reason I chose this projector is the bulb life and cost (quoted as 9000 hours and £59.00). I use it to watch films on Sky+ via the S-video connection, I have my WII and Xbox connected to it via the composite connections and I watch DVD's via my laptop to the VGA connection. I use headphones when I use the projector because it is right next to my head behind the sofa, so can be quite noisy unless you have very good neighbours that don't mind your surround sound system being turned up. I do have a ceiling mount for the projector, but haven't got around to fitting it yet. I'm sure this would reduce the fan noise quite considerably. Hope this helps. Steve
P.S. latest price on the package deal is £359.99, £40.00 less than I paid last August.

Hi there,

I had A similiar problem before I upgraded to SKY HD.
I was trying to convert scart to component. After buying loads of cheap cables from ebay I finally resolved the issue by buying a box from these guys -

Component (YUV) to RGB/VGA Converter: J.S. Technology

They are brilliant.
It worked a treat and with decent cables i got a half decent picture.
If your projector has component cables and you aren't quite ready to step up to SKY+HD, then this will work a treat.
The box is expensive as it is quality, but I have one surplus to my needs, if you are interested in buying, PM me and we can thrash something out.

I would advise against the earlier post of S-video connection. Gave me a rubbish picture.

Good luck

Iain

I strongly advise any possible deals be conducted in the classified forums and not by PM

Clearco HD9000

I have just bought this projector for my husband with the intention of using it in a similar way to you (TV, Sky, Laptop and DVD's). So far we have managed to connect the laptop, and Sky and receive perfect pictures BUT no sound - very confusing AND we cannot seem to get the TV tuner to pick up any channels.

PLEASE HELP! Can you advise me on what we are doing wrong and what we can do to get sound and the TV tuner to work?

Thank you

Hi,
You need to run separate AV leads from your sky+ box, Xbox, WII etc. to a separate speaker system (surround sound or similar).
There are speakers on the projector, but I would not advise using these as they are not of the best sound quality.
Personally I use headphones so I can have the volume at the level I want without upsetting my neighbours, although I do have surround sound as an option as well.
