Question on Scheimpflug adj. for Runco 940

My question is regarding the Sheimpflug adjustment on a Runco 940 CRT Projector.

I cant seem to loosen the bolts to adjust the scheimpflugs setting. I reference the Barco 708 manual, as the Runco manual is useless in this matter, but my Runco 940 has these white plastic extensions where the bolts should be. I afraid to force these white hex-topped plastic extensions for fear of breaking them. Has anyone dealt with this problem? Can the scheimfplugs on my projector be adjusted?

Furthermore, after reading more of the Barco 708 manual, I noticed the 708 had upper and lower screw adjustments for static convergence aligninment (red and blue cross-hairs converging on green cross hairs) but the my Runco 940 seems to only have screws on top. The lower portion seems to have rivets instead of screws. (?)

Not sure it I'm just missing something, or do these projectors just come preconfigured allowing for no adjusting. (at least no way for the common joe) I appreciate any help.

I am new here. This forum is a great help.

Thanks!

Hi welcome to the forums.
The runcon is identical to the 708 there were very minor software changes

In all my years of setting up hundreds of 700,701,708 cine 7 and Runco's I have never had to set the schiemlug to anything other than the mid position (ie with the little white knob in the centre pointing up) Are you using this on an exceptionally big or small screen?

However to adjust these you will need to loosen the 4 plastic bolts that hold the lenses on place. (these are the hex topped bolts you refer to) they are quite tight and the best tool is a spade screw driver the same size as the slot. You do have to use a bit of force.

The other screws you refer to i'm sure are for the toe in for the lenses.there are at the bottom they will have a 7mm bolt head rather than a slotted head as you would expect. I does require quite a thin nut spinner to get in there

Thanks!

I 'm projecting onto a 120" 16x9 screen. I'm almost at the upper limit of the Scheimpflug setting (SW=106", I'm at 105"). I notice the corresponding diagonal for SW=106" is called out at 126". Is that diagonal width for a 4x3 or 16x9 screen? I calculated my theoretical SW for each format:

SW for [4:3] : arctan(3/4)--> 126" x cos(arctan(3/4) = 100.8"

SW for [16:9] : arctan(9/16)--> 126" x cos(arctan(9/16) = 109.8"

Depending on which diagonal format corresponds to SW, I not sure if I'm close enough at this setting or if I need to adjust Scheim... settings.

Thanks again for responding! I'm off to look for a thin 7mm nutspinner.

That is a big screen for such a wee projector.
I'd still leave it in the centre position
I hope your black out is good

Thanks again!

I'll leave them as is. My blackout is ok. I may need to repaint my walls and ceilings a darker shade but I have managed to block out all other ambient light from windows as the motorized screen completely overlaps the window when down. Of course, the projector performs best in the evenings.
