Thanks: Gave 705, Got 434 | hidef on Z2, nice!
For those of you who haven't seen any hidef stuff on the Z2 yet, you're in for a nice suprise when you do, it looks fantastic! As I'm using a HTPC I have the luxury of being able to download hidef clips and see what the Z2 is really capable of and it looks very nice indeed I can tell you. Downloaded Pinball (WM9), Step into Liquid (WM9), the T2 extreme demo (WM9) and they are all a very obvious improvement over DVD. The Pinball one is short but very sweet!
Anyway, if you want to see what the Z2 is capable of you really owe it to yourselves to see some hidef stuff on it (oh and using a HTPC helps too!).
Cheers,
Andy.

I was surprised at just how good those clips look on an xga projector too. Comparing to DVD, Hi Def is a much better format, and with front projection progressing the way it is, DVD is starting to look very limited now.
Roll on WM9 format DVDs like T2 Extreme edition..
Gary.

Tempest,
WMP9 needs a meaty spec to run comfortably. I would say that a P4 3Ghz will be fine, or a Athlon XP3000 with at least 512 MB RAM. Trust me though, hidef is definately worth it.
Cheers
Rob

Rob | thats a bit steep. you shoud be ok with anything over a 2ghz. but you will need a fair bit of ram.

Yeah, the 2.4C I have in my HTPC plays the hidef stuff fine. The hyperthreading chips and 800FSB seems to have made a big difference as an old P4 2.4B CPU I had wouldn't play Step Into Liquid very well at all.
Cheers,
Andy.

What about the new AMD 64 Bit 3000+ CPU ?
Any ideas ?
This new 64 bit CPU can be got for the bargain? price of about £175 ish, and (depending on benchmarks) performs about the same as a P4 3.0/3.2 chip. Plus it's 64 bit so when 64 bit OS and apps come along it can only get better.
I reckon the AMD 64 Bit 3000+ cpu with new Mboard and 512MB of the ram to go with it would come to £400 UK
