worth buying

i have a barco 700 data already and it is running well apart from the power supply board not switching on and clicking while trying to come out of stand by a few times.i have given my friend who is a tv engineer the board to resolder and clean up all the solder points on the board.
i seen this CRT Projector Barco 801s on eBay (end time 17-Oct-09 17:42:34 BST)
and i was wondering would it be worth buying this as my main projector and using mine as spare parts or vice versa as from reading most parts are similar
would this be a good idea and what would be a reasonable price

any help would be much appreciated
thanks

Ryan

Re: worth buying

Lots of hours on the tubes. I doubt if the 700 and 801s have many parts in common, if any.

Re: worth buying

If you're going to invest in a new chassis then why not something a little more upmarket...like an 808?

One more thought... What makes you think the trouble with your 700 is the SMPS ?

Barco 701/708/Cine7 Tips and Manuals

Never worked on a 700.

Re: worth buying

I think an Graphis 801s is a reliable & quiet machine and for a cheap entry at £100 is difficult to beat.
Any BD/BG808 or BD808s owners should snap this or similar up and keep the following bits as spares
the x3 RGB amps
Quadrupler
EHT card
Splitter
Remote
Convergence boards
As they will be the same as yours
Lenses if your are scratched or marked

For the earlier 808 H & V sync boards

IF you rip all the ferous bits off you should get aboyt £10 for the metal and the rest of the circuit boards from a scrap metal dealer.

The plastic cases make great sledges

There is always soemone with a BD/BG801 or Sony 1270/1/2 who needs a set of tubes

Re: worth buying

the projector would power up from standby and then start clicking 2 or 3 times a second before turning off.a light tap of the transformer powered it up so from doing a bit of reading on the forums and an inspection of the board i think i figured out the problem.
my mate is a tv engineer and he is going to clean up the board and resolder all the points on the board
