Cleaning a projector screen.

I really shouldn't be having to ask this but...........
I moved house in the last year and somewhat foolishly (or should that be naively) fixed up my projector and screen in the lounge fairly early on thinking all the decorating and renovations were finished and there would be no more dust and other crap floating about. In my defense, I'd just bought a Blu Ray player and The Dark Knight and I simply had to watch it.
Anyway, in short, the work wasn't over with (against my wishes I might add) and over the last few months a lot of dust and other muck has been floating around the lounge. I obviously covered all the AV kit up, and kept the projector screen wound up (it's an electric one). But much to my horror, discovered that whilst I was out at work 'someone' kept turning the screen on and lowering it to show various workmen, passings friends and neighbours. Anyway, the result is a projector screen with dust stuck to it in places. I've tried simply wiping it, but it seems to be a bit more stubborn than that. I'm not sure if the screen has a kind of tackiness to it making the dust adhere more to it. When you lower the screen, there is a noise like peeling open a fresh magazine page (the only way I can think to describe it), which makes me think the screen is kind of tacky. It's always done that, from new so it's not a problem.
My question is, what would fellow screen owners reccommend to clean the screen with so as not to damage the material or leave any marks?
Also, if anyone has any advice on how to get rid of dust....

and an icky supplimental if its not considered hijacking - how to remove moth debris from a screen?

Little bugger must have parked himself on before/as I wound it up, and had a cosy sleep for a week or so. Left a big brown mark.

(it killed him though, so he wont do it again.)

any clues?

Re: Cleaning a projector screen.

well, it seems a few manufacturers recommend using a small amount of very mild detergent in warm water. gently cleaning the area with a soft disposable cloth and then removing the detergent with the same process but with clean warm water and then finally dabbing the surface dry with another soft dry cloth. if you try this method, do a sample area first to see if it indeed works.

or you could just turn the hose on it.

Re: Cleaning a projector screen.

Thanks Weyland- I suppose I should have thought of that myself, but I just wondered if there were any specialist cleaning kits available.
