CRT TV production is pretty much over now thanks to WEE legislation, so this is another non-story masquerading as a cause for outrage. The only real surprise is that it isn't from The Daily Mail

What a load of old tosh

CRT TV's use less power than LCD or plasma.

a 32 inch Philips CRT TV only used about 100-140 watt a 14 inch portable about 40 watts

50 inch plasma 450 Watts

32 inch LCD 300 Watts

Been repairing CRT TV's for 15 years!

Maybe these people should stop talking hot air and that will cut green house gas!

Maybe office blocks and such company buildings should be banned from leaving their office lights and computers on all night long when no one is there, that would save a heck of electricity and cut Co2 as well as save the lamps / strip lights.

Glowball warming is a result of cows anyway, methane!

Yep CRT is a dead duck, shame really as it was a good technology with 80 years of refinement to perfection in some of the top end sets.

Yet we now go from lead in CRT funnel glass to Mercury in the 6 - 10 cold cathode FL backlights of LCD sets, that's a disaster waiting to happen!

Ironic would you not say ?
