Barco 708mm PS3 error

When I input a component picture into the Barco from a PS3 the picture will not settle. It looks like there are two pictures side by side and they keep moving up the screen.
The PS3 picture on the TV is great. I am putting the component cables into my Denon and using it as a switching box between sources.
I did have a picture from it recently but the whole screen had a red tint. When putting HD in from my V+ box the picture is ok.

I have the PS3 in 6 and the V+ in 5. I have had to push the screen width to it's limit to get the V+ HD picture to fill the screen so I can't just put the PS3 through there.

Composite is fine also.

Any help appreciated.

Re: Barco 708mm PS3 error

Input 6 on a 708mm is for HD component video with a Tri level sync. so I'm not surprised it rolls
When you select 5 component or 3 ( RGB yes it will go green) is the picture stable?

You should have on that projector the ability to have two inputs that use the same frequency.
you can do this by pressing 9 then 5 ie 95. That will create a totally new block and you can switch between your settings for the PS3 and the Vbox by sellecting 5 or 95

I don't think they every fitted the cycling memery block function the the 708mm but on later BD708 you cound enable memory blcoks from the service menu and by pressing enter could achieve the same feature as above.

Hope that helps

Re: Barco 708mm PS3 error

I can get a green picture on 3 with V+ but not with the PS3. When I change to any number including 3 or 5 I get nothing at all from the PS3. I have tried 95 and 96 and also get nothing. The picture is not rolling this morning, I can see the screen divided up like there are four pictures.

Maybe there is a setting in the PS3 but I can get a great picture from the component on my plasma.
I can get a nice picture on 6 from the V+ HD.
I think that the projector has a different input board in it and not the standard MM.
The thing is I did have a picture from the PS3 that looked like a very good HD, except for the red tint. I haven't used the projector for a few weeks since I was excited about my new plasma. Now I come back to it and it doesn't work quite right.

Re: Barco 708mm PS3 error

This is obviously a sync issue
Does the image lock up when you put the green cable from the PS3 into the sync input.
Barcos are industrial machines and used to seeing strong sync signals.
You did mention earlier that you are switching via an amp. I am assuming that you have tried this direct too.

Re: Barco 708mm PS3 error

Are you sure you're not just playing Quake or some other 3D shoot-em-up in four player split-screen mode (Sorry, I couln't resist)

I don't really know a great deal about sync, but this behaviour is similar to what my Focus Quadscan Pro scaler does if I feed it progressive component signals (It only accepts interlaced inputs up to 576i).

If you've got a "different" input board in your 708; it is one that can handle 720p? If you haven't tried already - go into the PS3's settings and change the component output resolution.

According to this website: PS3™ | Video Output Settings a UK PS3 will output the following resolutions via component:
1080p / 1080i / 720p / 576p / 576i

I've never seen anything output 1080p via component, so I wonder if the PS3 *really* offers that, but anyway: Try going right back to 576i (or 480i if you have a US console). If that works then try 576p/480p and then give 720p and beyond a try.

If your PS3 claims to be outputting 1080p via component at the moment, then an uneducated guess tells me that the barco won't like it one little bit.

Hope this helps

720p will be the max for this projector but it will far better at 576p

Re: Barco 708mm PS3 error

I've managed to get a picture!

Thanks to Roland and ovation1357.

I changed the output of the PS3 several times and found that 1080i worked.

The picture now has the red tint back. I have fiddled with other settings to try and sort the colour but it hasn't worked. The picture from the V+ does not have the red tint. I have tried them both through 5 and they have both worked there.

I really need the grey scale set up because that hasn't been done but I don't know if that would help. I am moving home in the first week of October so I'm not going to start fussing with that now. I have the projector on the floor and in messing about last night with moving things around to plug in different cables I think I have moved the projector a little because the menu now looks out of focus.

Thanks again

Re: Barco 708mm PS3 error

Pull the Red and blue cables from the projector and you should get a perfect black and white image.
If the image is still has a red bias then its the projector.

Second thought does the PS3 have a setting to change from RGB to component?
A strong "magenta" colour would indicate you have the projector set to component ie inpt 6 and feeding it an RGB type signal

If it is set to RGB when you pull the R&B then the picture will go green.

Re: Barco 708mm PS3 error

Hi,

I pulled out the cables and got a black and white picture. There was no red tint to it. I'm not sure what I'm going to do now. I'll see how it looks when set up in the new house.

Thanks for your help.
