Re: crt coolant supplier england

I have bunch of liquid coupled Barco 8" green tubes that are burnt. The fluid is pretty clear.
Must be about 500ml in each

If you are near Reading happy for you to have them.

Re: crt coolant supplier england

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR QUICK REPLIES GUYS. Have tried them Tom, but to no avail - it seems in the UK that u gotta throw your tv away when the fluid gets contaminated! Roland, thanks for the very generous offer. Is there any chance i can send a courier to collect? Im in not-so-sunny Devon!

Re: crt coolant supplier england

This is where I got mine Electronix Online

Shipping was dirt cheap as I recall and I received them in about a week. I bought 4 bottles and used three and a bit.

Fluid transfer/removal can be done using a syringe.

Re: crt coolant supplier england

Is this a glycol glycerin mix ?

As I remember you want about 75%-80% glycol and 25% to 20% glycerin mix.

Most chemical suppliers can ship the raw chemicals.

Techspray projection coolant is 75% ethylene glycol and 25% glycerin. The glycerin help both clarity and reduces water absorption through the bellows.

Here is the MSDS sheet :

Re: crt coolant supplier england

"Ethylene glycol tastes sweet, which is why some animals are attracted to it. Many veterinarians are familiar with ethylene glycol toxicity because of the frequent cases that involve dogs or cats who drink radiator fluid."

Also turns out the main use for glycerin medically is as a suppository.

So not so sure if my advice for drinking it is so good.

But like most of my advice you could shove it.......

Re: crt coolant supplier england

Quick bit of advice on draining fliud from tubes.
On old tubes , presure can build up because the fluid absorbs moisture.
If your tube does not have a rubber (silicon) expansion chamber or bellows then there is a real danger that the pressure can build to either create a leak or the glass to crack.
It is therefore important to allow an air bubble if your tube does not have such an expansion chamber.
The two tubes that are on their way have rubber bellows and you will see because the bellows compress easily that they are not under too much pressure. The earlier versions of these tubes had a coil of plasitic tube to allow for expension.
I recently drained one of these. When I cut the plasic tube the jet shot about 20ft across the patio. (the very first one hit the ceiling)
My advice is do it over an old cloth if possible outside or in a garage (minding the obvious dust contamination etc) and wear goggles and gloves.
