Can old HP vp6210 projector display HD signal??

I have purchased a second hand hp vp6210 projector from ebay, apparently the manual states it can handle 1080i signals which i find odd as its an old unit and the inputs are VGA, s-video and composite. So now if I want to use a blueray or upscaling dvd player how would this be possible to connect.

I presume i would need a combo lead of some sort like hdmi to vga or component to vga. I understand that hdmi is digital and vga analogue so surely this lead would not work?

If anybody knows the best way to connect the 2 units (if at all possible)to work with hd signal from the dvd player i would be very gratful.

many thanks

Re: Can old HP vp6210 projector display HD signal??

The only way it can show 1080i is through the vga. As you said one cable is digital and the other is analogue so it is not possible without spending a lot of money on a converter.

However, it can only output at 800x600 so everything will come out like that (Blu Ray is 1920x1080 and DVD is 720x576). Blu Ray would be a waste and a DVD player on S Video would be the best option. The PJ would then upscale from 720x576 to 800x600.

Re: Can old HP vp6210 projector display HD signal??

Thankyou nwgarret, thats exactly what im using now, tosh dvd player through s-video. Its nice to know thats the best poss picture quality I can get as its been bugging me if hd was an option. I can sleep easy now lol. If 800 x 600 is the max res then ill live with that as i only paid 180 with new bulb plus new screen.

thanks mate ..............

Re: Can old HP vp6210 projector display HD signal??

Some people have had luck doing component to vga. It sends the component through the vga so it stays component all the way. It seems some people still don't get a picture as the PJ cannot handle the signal (VGA expecting RGB instead of component).

It isn't worth getting a new DVD player for just that though unless the player packs up.
