Optoma HD57 projector

HI all ,
I'm really new to this and have a few questions I'm hoping youmay be able to help me with ..
I've set up a screen and 5.1 sound system I was given in a spare double bedroom (now my eldest has moved out) for my 2 boys to play their xbox360 on and watch some movies.
I've been offered an Optoma HD57 for £100 from a friend that has only been used for 63 hours and is in near perfect condition.
1. Would this be suitable for this type of thing ?
2. The projector is going to be shelf mounted but only 10ft 2" away from the screen will this give them a decent size picture ?
3 . How can I black out the small double window to make the room darker?

Sorry for the questions just want my boys to have their own room and leave our main tv alone
