Re: 24fps is it worth it?

24hz/24fps is not about quality much about motion. It will eliminate (or at worst minimise) judder on panning shots when shown at 50-60hz.

Some displays cannot show native 24hz but instead show it at 48, 72 or 96hz. This is still ok and should eliminate judder as those numbers go into 24.

I always use 1080p/24 for Blu Ray and my PJ turns it into 720p/24 when it downscales.

What PJ have you got. Not all will accept a 24hz signal.

If your projector will accept 1080p 24 it is well worth any effort to implement it as it will make for a more pleasureable viewing experience.

I agree. When I got my first HD TV I immediately noticed the juddering. However, from experience, some people simply cannot notice it. Therefore, you might aswell see if you can notice juddering whilst watching your video at 1080p/720p/50/60. If you can't, then there is possibly no point in updating the FW.

Re: 24fps is it worth it?

Film on PAL DVD (25fps) or material encoded on Blu-ray at 50hz should not exhibit 3:2 motion judder associated with 24fps film output at 60hz. 24hz is beneficial for Blu-ray film and/or film on NTSC DVD as it avoids the unequal 3:2 frame repeat when this is output at 60hz. Personally I see the difference and prefer the more natural motion of 24hz than 60hz.
