What type of DVI is the Z2?

I know I've read this in the mega Z2 thread on AVS but that's now so huge it's impossible to find anything , so maybe someone here knows.

I read that there are two sorts of DVI, 'computer' and 'video' where the specs differ as the values of the colours, in particular IIRC in one spec 'black' is 0 and the other it's something like 15, with similar differences at the 'white' end.

Thus, driving a 'video' DVI-based projectors with a computer or vice-versa is going to lose PQ .. my problem is I can't recall which the Z2 is.

Anyone know?

Thanks, interesting thread ... I did manage to find what I knew existed somewhere, it wasn't in the thread on AVS I was thinking.

For anyone else's info this page contains this comment:

Sooo... from what I've learned from Darin's posts, apparently the Z2's DVI is expecting the PC range. This seems to make sense, if it were expecting the video range (16-235) and you sent it the PC range (1-255) I would guess you'd lose information as it would ignore 0-15 and 236-255, right? I guess if I'm understanding all this correctly, then the great picture we are getting through DVI isn't the full potential of our projectors.

The range is most black (0 or 16) to most white (255 or 235) right? Technically, isn't this a range issue rather than only a black level issue as it actually affects whites more than blacks?

0 - 15 = 15
15 / 255 = blacks are 5.8% brighter than they should be
236 - 255 = 19
19 / 255 = whites are 7.4% dimmer than they should be

Why isn't this problem solved in the players? Do HTPCs take care of this problem? Is there anything we can do? Use component over DVI? What is lost with this route? Is the problem even noticeable enough to be worth fixing? Edit: a few posts back I asked about the Denon 5900. It has a "DVI black enhanced mode", maybe this is the answer? Google isn't very helpful on this one.

Darin mentioned he's read the HS20's HDMI input should be expecting the video range. Has anyone confirmed this yet?

An interesting thought... do other devices (RPTVs, etc) expecting the video range have poor results when they receive the PC range? I assume these other devices DO indeed expect the video range?
