Using Seleco 350 for Powerpoint presentation

Morning everyone,

I'm trying to find out if it is possible to hook a Seleco SVP 350 up to a laptop so it can project a Powerpoint presentation. I know it can be done *physically* with a VGA to RGBHV cable - but will the projector be able to make sense of the signal coming from the laptop? Presumably the laptop would have to be outputting at 640x480?

Thanks for any advice,

Mike

No, this won't work.

The projector is designed for video signals, not data signals. It doesn't have the bandwidth to accept 640x480.

Re: Using Seleco 350 for Powerpoint presentation

Mike,

I've got a SVP-350+ (Not sure if this makes any difference) and it is possible to hook up to a PC, but it is a bit fiddly and not really worth the effort.

Like you say it will have to be 640*480, but it has to be an Interlaced Signal (480i) instead of a Progressive Signal (480p) that the PC will output by default. In order to get your graphics card to output this type of signal you would probably have to install a 3rd Party piece of software like Powerstrip to allow you to create this resolution, unless your Graphics Card would support 480i using its own drivers.

I would have thought that being limited to 640*480 would make this Projector of limited use for presentations. Like Chris says this Projector is designed to be used to watch Video material and not really to be used with a PC.

Hope this helps.

James
