Right. the idea of this thred is that everyone that has a
Home cinema- Viewing room-Listining room or lounge
can all post photos of there rooms and equipment under the same thred.
The plan is that we can all comment on others peoples rooms, get some ideas, and also desided what not to do.
plus i love looking at other peoples view of what the perfect cinema room is.

Please include
no more than 3 photos per room.
a small written section on how or who did it.
and a list of any problems and difficulties if any.
list of equipment, and what planed next.

Doh, a post like this has come up the same day my projector was collected my panasonic for repair. I will take some photos when I get it back. There is a thread like this on the plasma forum that I cant help but look at. Its called get your plasmas out for the lads.
Maybe this should be called "get your cinema rooms out for the lads".

When my Z2 arrives i was going to create a thread called get your pjs out for the lads just like the plasma one as that is a great thread, so i also think this should be changed to get your cinema room or pjs out for the lads as it would also be a good thread. As soon as my pj arrives i will post some pictures of my room, hopefully this will be a great thread. I also too enjoy looing at other peoples cinema rooms.

ok my room is a converted loft in my parents new house, its all been painted with wilkos paint and i took down a horible strip light and put up some nice B&Q bar spot lamps and instaled a remote dimmer switch(so much fun)
the picture frames are IKEA best £25 and i made the shelfing myself.
the seats are the only ones i could get up the stairs and they were free. and the rug is my ma's pershen(dead soft)
and the dvd racks are from good old argos
my equipment is as signiture and i am going to be adding a Z2 projecter- a home made sreen with material from dhr
a new dvd player(as yet undecided)
a sky+ box and
another PW2200.

Been meaning to post this pick of my AE200 for ages!

Thinking about painting the front section of the sloping ceiling above the screen (bungalow attic room) the same blue as the side walls, not sure how that'll make the room look though!

I’m lucky enough to have effectively two lounges, one for sitting and reading or listening to music and the other for the TV and stuff. As such I’m able to do stuff that I probably wouldn’t be ‘allowed’ to do if it was our only lounge, Even now the décor was a compromise…… “you want to paint it wot colour?……”.

To control the light I’ve got blackout blinds behind the wooden ones, which was necessary as the bay window is south facing.

I’ve done all the work myself, although it wasn’t exactly difficult. The screen is just under 6’ wide and the seating is about 11’ away. I could have got a bigger screen but I was originally planning on getting a Z1 and I wanted to get viewing distance as close to 2x screen width as I could. Its still plenty big enough and with the Z2 I cant see screendoor even if I look for it at my viewing distance.

The gear is as follows….

HK DVD2550, Toshiba SD220 & Philips DVDR70 - Sky+ - Marantz SR5200 - Kef eggs with REL Quake Sub - Sanyo Z2 Projector – DRH electric screen - Philips 32” TV - Akai VCR – Gamecube

I’ve also got remote lighting dimmable which I still forget I’ve got.

Next on the agenda is probably sorting out the remotes as I have 9 of ‘em and I may also sort out a remote for the screen.

Never thought the Z2 would be that much better than my AE200 but on seeing that pic and the level of vibrancy and contrast....WOW!

Is the photographed image reasonably 'true' Weirdfish?

It was taken with a Canon A40 on its largest image/best quality setting and all I have done is resize it.

Mind you Monsters Inc would look vibrant through a net curtain!

I'm gonna take some more screenshots of different films so I can finish the Home Cinema part of my website.

I am student with no money wat so ever, so I built my screen and used it for my PJ. You'll have to bear in mind that this is a tiny student house! I should think my self lucky really

This is just TV running from it, and trust me the actual picture looks 100000 times better than the picture lest it

Sorry Woz one other question, what are your room dimensions? I have a 12ft long x 11ft wide lounge that I would like to set up like yours. Is this adequate for the Z2 and is the PQ good?

It's from DRH screens - it's the 7 foot diagonal electric one they do - 409 quid. Seems fine - not a ripple in sight, and I don't expect that to change as I don't have to pull it up and down.

You should be fine - my PJ is 10 foot away from the screen and is in the middle of its zoom range. The calculator at projectorcentral seems accurate for this. If you want to mount the screen into the ceiling cavity, bear in mind you need to make sure the joists run the right direction!
It's my first PJ, but a mate has the Epson TW...erm something...cost 2.5 k and I think the Z2 looks as good to my eyes....bear in mind that neither of us have done any tweaking at all.

With regards to the cables you have, can you tell me which ones you bought from VDC?
