Re: Where the heck are the CRT folks ?

I have been lurking but not many Marquee questions lately. Also Since I got the Two Bran New 2004 VDC Marquee 8500 Ultra Longbows with Factory HD145's. I have been sporadically trying to setup my Blend using the TV-One C2-2250's. Last nightas i was getting closer and about to reference my one PJ to the other
using Calman and my EYE 1 Pro, the toggle on the Left C2-2250 units crapped out on me. i cant get the Blend zoom size back to where it needs to be. And the Computer controlled software's slide controls Suck. So now I have to wait
for it to be repaired once I contact Tv-One.

And not mush time for any more research in my Marquee maintenance and mod thread, but some day I'll be back to it.

Re: Where the heck are the CRT folks ?

I've been busy re-building other people's Marquee CRT's for continued longevity and reliability. Other than that my HT with M8500 is rock solid and see's at least 5 hours of viewing per week. Thinking of getting an LCD just so it can break down and give me something to do

Re: Where the heck are the CRT folks ?

I am still around, just not on the forums much these days,
Watching lots of Blu-ray movies.

Had my HVPS fail about 2 weeks ago, 2nd failure in 5 years, 1st was CLM.

Runs rock steady, no convergence drift.
Is used every day for about 4hrs.

Cheers
Steve

Re: Where the heck are the CRT folks ?

I'm in the process of setting up my new a/v room with a ceiling mounted Runco 8", which I hope will last at least another five-ten years. At that future point the technology should be available at a reasonable cost to accommodate my aspirations for a truly big screen.

This process has involved me halving the size of my former screen due to the new room's size constraints, which is a major trauma, but it will at least motivate me toward the ultimate goal of a 'proper' cinema.

As another forum member will be pleased to learn, the final screen will be fixed. This is an in-joke, if he can by now see the funny side.

Re: Where the heck are the CRT folks ?

Hi,

Not been around much here recently, but still going..........

My cinema room is in rebuild at the mo, most of the new audio system is in (PMC MB2 & Bryston) couple of teething issues to resolve and waiting final rack and a coupe of items.

Selling my old speakers - see forum for sale section.

Then its onto the PJ's with Gregs mods & TVONE 2250A units vs TVONE 7200.

New 2ch Audio system also being added, follwed by tidy the place and sell off all those Barco Bad Boys I have been looking after........

CRT still going strong in 2009

Re: Where the heck are the CRT folks ?

Mad, looking forward to your C2-2250 review. My one unit broke a toggle switch and Tv-one has it now. I think you should do a write up on how to align and color calibrate two PJ's for the blend and also ho you to use the different settings and controls on the units. those things have so much in them !!!!

Would you still have this? I have a Barco 708mm that I've just posted a request for the SMPS and convergence boards. I'm desperate to get this thing working, It's got the iris 3, and I haven't had it working in a year...

I'm currently running on a electrohome but the thing is pretty bad now...

Where abouts in the country are you? I'm in staffordshire, and will travel...

cheers

Oli.

Re: Where the heck are the CRT folks ?

Hi Tom,

Barco specific, you wound me sir! could we make a Barco and a Marquee specific, hell and a Sony too

I have just spent two days in my workshop playing with a Seleco 700, thats a rare beast, and quite an improvement on the 400/500 units both in build and performance.

As for writing a guide, well, I'm not sure who talks the most..hmmm actually the nod certainly goes to Andy,(he would agree with this) but I have a big concern that rather than turn out to be a pocket guide, it could be closer to a leather bound tome similar in length to 'War and Peace'

Maybe a DVD in a Two Ronnies' style ave you got any o's, what letter o's no garden o's....

(sorry Tom, you my not be au fait with the genius comedian Ronnie Barker?)
