Panasonic AE3000 or In foucus IN80

The conversion of my garage into a media room is now almost complete and i am looking to put up a projector.

I have demoed a panasonic AE3000 and was blown away.
In the back of my mind though i have read a lot of good things about the Infocus In80.

Is it worth the extra cash for the panasonic or could i spend the extra money elsewhere, on some new speakers perhaps.

I have seen a lot of comments about the Rainbow effect. What is it?

I will be putting up a 6ft fixed frame screen and will be about 3.5 to 4M back from the screen

Re: Panasonic AE3000 or In foucus IN80

Hi DrH

I was too, so bought it.

Before that I auditioned the Infocus IN78, 80, 81, 82.

I almost bought the IN81. Until I went back for a longer audition with my own films.

Check this thread:

Once you start seeing them that's it, that is all you notice. Depends on your sensitivity to them though.

Hope this helps.
Carl

Re: Panasonic AE3000 or In foucus IN80

I agree with Carl.

This is a personal thing, but those that see rainbow effect on DLP's tend to not be able to live with it. I see it, and haven't seen a projector yet this side of £5k that doesn't suffer from it. If you do audition a DLP and you can see it, LCD would be the better option for you unless you can stretch to £3,000 for a D-ILA projector.

Do try the Mitsubishi HC6500, which is one of the quietest projectors on the market (17dB Eco/19dB normal), and is as sharp a projector as I've seen this side of the HC7000.
