adjusting the picture in a Toshiba TDP T8

Hi,

just signed up and had a problem with the projector not displaying in 1080 through my xbox . But found another problem i think where the picture seems not bright enough and when i change the brightness level on the projector the video seems odd. Does ths mean I have to get it calibrated using things like the spyder to get the right colours ? I know the native resolution of the projector is low and is not HD but I thought it would still display a good picture just not in real HD . Any help is appreciated
