Problem with Optoma HD800X

Hi all... I bougth this proyector one weed ago because I was very interesting in that model and found a very good price...everything works fine ( I use the wall at the moment, till I finish the cinema room ) , but I had a strange problem twice.

Look at the images.
In this one...the two hdmi inputs are mixed...see at the bottom of the image, part of the PopCorn A100 menu...but I selected the Play3 Input.

After restart all the components, Proyector, Play3 and PopCorn...

I had strange lines... see with more details in the words of any menu.

I have been making probes in this week, I will make a room just for use the Proyector, but I dont know what to do... I´m stilll on time to take it back, only one week and Im afraid that I must send it to the service...and wait...I dont know how long time.

The first time that I see the problem, was 4 days ago, with 5 hours of use, so I changed the HDMI cables, and have worked fine till today with 14 hours of use...

Now, again works fine, but really Im very upset...

Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance...

Re: Problem with Optoma HD800X

My HD800X has just developed the same fault as yours, in fact identical. Mine has been running for a total of only 976 hours and is 15 months old.

I can't get hold of Optoma as it is the weekend, and the Warranty might be 1, 2, or 3 years according to the vague Warranty Document. Looking on Optomas website gives no help either.

Did you fix the problem and does anyone know how long the warranty is? If it is 12 months then I am not very pleased as it cost £1000!

If it is a manufacturing fault and not a time related wear and tear issue then I might be covered.

I will report back. Lets hope Optoma aftercare is all it is supposed to be!

Re: Problem with Optoma HD800X

1 year isn't a lot. But if i had a warranty claim I would invoke the 2 year warranty EU directive on the retailer.

On doing some more searching I found a post on this forum from a guy with an HD80 and the same problem asking the same question.

He answered his own problem by reporting that all you had to do was pull the mains plug out and the problem would be gone. Apparantly the problem would periodically return, but all you had to do was pull the plug again to fix it.

Well I am pleased to report that this fix also works for the HD800X! I depowered the projector and restarted it and it was all back to normal.

On Monday I will get the reponse from Optoma to see if there is a permanent fix.

I'm not sure but that guy may have been me

I have also found that the problem occurs less if you switch on your AV receiver first followd by your input (PS3, Sky etc..) & then the projector leaving 10-15 seconds between.

Rich.

Hi... Sorry to hear you problem with your Optoma.

I give it back to the shop, and get my money back. I had "luck" the fault was in the firts 5 hours of use... Now I will try with the HD-20, lets hope I have better experience with the second Optoma.

I sent a fex mails to Optoma Sevice in Europe before take a desicion, but they never told me nothing about this fault, or why its happened, just that I can use the warranty or take a new one in the shop where I buyed.

Good luck with you problem, hope you can solve it.

Bye...
