Will my projector be stable enough?

Hi guys,

I'm on the cusp of buying a new Infocus IN83 for the cinema room (as mentioned in my previous thread).

Ultimate solution is to mount it on the ceiling, but this is going to involve some serious DIYing! In the meantime I was going to sit the projector on top of a plant-stand (about 4' high). Will this be ok or will I get too much vibration from the machine and, therefore, a wobbly picture?

Re: Will my projector be stable enough?

I have a (vastly inferior ) HD80 and initially sat it on a wobbly old chair for a couple of days before mounting it on the ceiling with no problems.

It'll be fine as long as you don't knock the stand over.

Use the Optoma projection calculator to figure out where to mount it on the ceiling but DOUBLE CHECK by physically holding the PJ in place to check the zoom range will fill your screen size.

The Infocus IN83 is reported to be an excellent DLP projector, but in common with most DLP projectors it is not very flexible in its placement due to having no lens shift function. Unfortunately you will have to place it on a low table, below the height of the bottom of the screen or inverted above the top of the screen , so it will not work on your 4' stand.

It won't be a problem as the bottom of the screen will be higher than 4' from the floor .

Re: Will my projector be stable enough?

D'oh!

Good point Jacko I didn't notice it was an Infocus

Yeah it'll have to be either below or above the screen to work properly though with tilting it and maximum keystone you could have a temporary solution I guess?
