Options for connecting projector to av amp?

Hi guys,

I'm on the cusp of buying a new Infocus IN83 for the cinema room. When mounted on the ceiling it will be at least 10 metres from the av amp that will 'feed' it. What option do I have for connecting the two? Do I just use a single long length of HDMI or are there other solutions?

Ta.

I think thats your best option. Its what I do at pretty much the same length with no problems.

A reasonable quality HDMI cable should be fine over 10M
That's what I use from my Sony amp to Optoma PJ.

Try Kenables at: Cables/Adapters/KVM's HDMI Cables/Adapters kenable for HDMI Optical TOS Network Ethernet RJ45 Scart Audio Phono Jack USB Firewire 800 ADSL Cable Leads and you can get a 10m for £17 or 15m for £24.

I've used up to the 10m ones with no probs though haven't tried longer but I don't imagine you'd get any drop off.

Don't forget you always seem to need a little longer length than you think and HDMIs aren't too flexible for routing around bends etc.

The other solution for longer runs is that you run HDMI Extender over LAN Cat5. A box at each end converts the signal to run on CAT5 which is cheaper and more flexible than HDMI cabling and should be good up to 30m+. Kenables do one at £27 though you might get cheaper elsewhere.

Good luck with it.
