Optoma HD700X Fault?

Got mine in the post yesterday first off the image is great and I got it at a great price but was wondering if mine was faulty as Im finding it hard to get an image that is straight. Is it possible that I need to send it back or do i need to play with the settings?

What are you projecting onto? Wall? Screen?

How is it mounted? You need to make sure its the correct distance from the wall / screen and that the lens is dead centre to the wall / screen.

Re: Optoma HD700X Fault?

I expect that it is the position of the projector - you need to make sure that the projector is as level and pointing dead straight as possible to the centre of your screen (or imaginary screen)

The projector could be 1 or 2mm out of and this gets enhanced over the projected distance. for example if the projector was off say 2mm to the left and your screen is 12 foot away the one side of the picture would be larger than the other - same if not level. Try to get the vertical position 100% spot on and the Horizontal as near to 100% level as you can (at least you can adjust the keystone setting for this but best to try not use it)

Re: Optoma HD700X Fault?

I had exatctly the same problem when I first got my hd700x. It took me quite some time to experiment with different positions and settings on the pj. Eventually I made my own fully adjustable stand so I could get the screen perfect.

I've attached a picture to give you an idea, I'm sure the same can be achieved by using a ceiling mount but after spending all that money on the pj I thought I'd do it myself. It's not great looking and I promised the wife I would paint it!

The thing that made the difference was the fully adjustable platform, it took about 30 minutes of experimenting to get it just right.

My advice is keep patient and experiment with different adjustments until you work out what affects what. Also either get a mount or make something as you need to fix the PJ once you have figured it out otherwise you'll be having to adjust it every time it gets moved.

Cheers

Matt
