HC6500 upscale

Guys,

if I feed my HC6500 a SD DVD Signal from my PS3 and don't let the PS3 do the up scaling would the PJ's scaler up convert to 1080i/p?
If I feed it SD res the PJ is staying at that res.

The only way I can get it to do this is if I let the PS3 do it and it's making my SD stuff look very blurry.

I'm not sure if I'm missing settings but it's not great.

1080p with a blu is simply stellar but SD is total bleurgh

Re: HC6500 upscale

The PJ is 1080 progressive so anything inputted to it will be displayed as such. If you put in 1080p from the PS3 then that is scaling and deinterlacing if you input 480i/576i from the PS3 then the PJ is scaling and deinterlacing.

Re: HC6500 upscale

I think your confusing what the PJ is receiving and what the PJ is doing. The PJ (or any HD display) will scale all inputs to it that do not match its native resolution, otherwise SD material would just be a little rectangle in the centre of the screen.

The PJ will display the input signal its receiving before it scales it otherwise it would just say 1080p for everything as thats what it will eventually scale it to. So when you use the Ps3 to scale to 1080p, it will say its receiving 1080p. if you turn the scaling off in the PS3, the PJ will say its receiving 576i (or 480p) and then scale this to 1080p.

Re: HC6500 upscale

Ahh, thanks guys.

In that case I'm not that impressed with the up scaling of the PS3 or the PJ with the SD disc I watched. Which was Starwars 1 and Braveheart btw.
