HT 1000 settings

For all you HT1000 owners:

What settings have you changed from the default settings for your cinema setup? I realised the other day that all I've done is taken the default settings, changed it to cinema mode for widesceen and changed the picture to 'movie' and thats it!

When I see white text on a black background I see the rainbow effect clearly. Maybe I have the contrast/brighness set too high?

Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated!

To set the black and white levels, use the Avia needle pulse test - the moving black bars should end up with the darkest bar being just visible. Adjust the brightness so that the darkest bar dissapears, then adjust back so it just about appears. Do the same with the white bars using contrast adjustment. You will probably find that each one will affect the other, so you may have to do it a few times for it to be correct.

Any changes to settings such as gamma will mean having to recalibrate. I have all my sweetvision adjustments to off or at zero.

For component images, I found that reducing the sharpness gave the best image for me, as it was very smooth looking.

HTH

Avia's "sharpness" pattern is very useful for seeing the effect of sharpness controls on both projector & dvd device.

Invaluable tool Avia - calibrated a Sharp Z9000 with it last night & decided to check my audio setup again while I was at it.

Avia =
