Optoma HD700x Issues / Faulty ???

Hi Guys,

I Just purchased this projector online from Dixons this week. I have the following issues:

I appear to have ghosting or like white shadow around the picture. This is noticeable on channel logos or when i bring up channel information. I am using Virgin Media cable box through Scart adaptor to the Monitor cable on projector. I got the same issue when using composite video cable but i seem to like snow effort on yellows or white text or on channel info, so its worse. I tried messing around with contrast and brightness settings - gets better but problem still there.

I also tried cheap nikki divx player there hdmi and same issue. (this box works fine on pana plasma tv)

I tried connnecting projector to my laptop .. issues is reappears on the higher resolutions?? ie. anything other 1024 x 800??

Tried my xbox 360 via component and picture is perfect.

Contacted Optoma they did attempt to help .. just said should not do that seems faulty return to us for testing. Dixons offered refund or exchange.

This really seems like i never had these issues with my old vga infocus projector.. i know the picture was not very bright but aleast no ghosting.

Any suggests please or anything i could try? I'm not sure if i should exchange may have same issue???

I purchased this projector because seem to be some very good reviews.. i feel a little disappointed.

Temped to return and get a refund but got a deal £418 delivered. Not sure if any other decent cheap 720p projectors around??

Cheers,

Rav

Surely, you have your answer.
Optoma have confirmed it sounds like a fault and Dixons have offered a refund or exchange. So go for an exchange and if you don't like it get a refund.

Re: Optoma HD700x

Hi,

I have managed to solve the the fault with the ghosting myself. I reset the projector back to factory settings and left the V.Keystone setting to 0 and moved the projector around on my desk to give me a better aligned picture. I think if you use too much V.Keystone its causes ghosting, better to just move projector.

I just need help playing tweaking colour setting to get a nice smooth picture. I am projecting to white bedroom wall and about 90" 16.9 screen size.

Good news! glad you managed to fix it. Have a look at the main HD700x forum, you may find some settings advice there.
