Panasonic PT AE200E - Dead Pixels

Can any one tell me if Kloplett or any of the other retailers who are offering a good deal on the AE200 will carry out a check for dead pixels?

Thanks

Damn, I hope mine doesn't develop any dead pixels.

I believe there are a few tricks to hiding them though, like getting a little sticker the colour that absorbs the dead pixel colour, and sticking it on the screen.

What does it look like, is it permanent white /blue/etc...

Tomfoolery's right. If it's a bright permanent pixel. Get a small dark grey pixel sized sticker and put it where the offending pixel is.

I heard it can go a long way to help dead pixels.

BTW. How many hours on your bulb Fred?

hey there cyberheater and tom,
It is a bright green one and is REALLY annnoying, it developed around 10 hrs into the bulb life. sometimes i can't take my eye off it, i found a thread with someone who had a stuck green pixel and he put a yellow mark there, i will do that soon.
I have clocked up around 35 hours, i am watching literally all my dvds, even though i have seen them so many times, and i am still loving it. I was really going to go for one of the new z2's or the panny 500 but soon i appreciated how good the 200 was and i am really enjoying it. i still can't get over the £700 i paid for it, it feels almost wrong, you can't even get a good 32 inch crt for that.
Cheers all

I've clocked up 11 hours now, and no dead pixels.

I really hope it stays that way, but my LCD monitor developed two dead pixels after half a years (constant) use.

I may be wrong, I may well be wrong! (at home so no access to spec sheet) but I think Panasonic class up to 5 blue as in spec but even 1 green is unacceptable and can be considered a defective unit!

benji_m might be right:-

http://www.shootandshow.com/panasonic-deadpixel.htm

Panasonic Spec for dropped pixels:

- Up to four blue is classed as acceptable anything over is replaced.
- Up to one red is classed as acceptable anything over is replaced.
- If you have one green it is unacceptable and will be replaced.

I have one dead/stuck blue pixel on my AE100. It isnt there for the first 5 minutes the projector is turned on but then soon appears. Is this normal? For the first five minutes the pixel works fine.
Does anybody know what colour of sticker I should attach to my screen to dull out the blue pixel?

I've seen a blue pixel on an AE-300 quite succesfully masked with a yellow sticker. Getting it replaced would be a much better option though....

Hi there,

I can confirm that the yellow dot solution works for blue pixels. I have the AE300 and have a dead blue one as well. Have a look if you want:

Thanks guys, I have coloured in an address label with a yellow felt tip and punched it with a hole punch to give me yellow round stickers. I will stick them to my screen tonight and see what happens.

Nothing can be done for "dead" green pixels I'm afraid. Stuck or permanently lit pixels, that's what we're talking about here

Seriously, I'd assume the same method - get out the colouring pens (we know you have 'em ) & experiment.

I'd start with yellow.....

Best of luck

Black isn't good - think about the black spot on a bright/white background - sky etc...

Well, I stuck on one of my coloured labels last night, I coloured it in with a yellow highlighter pen. The blue dot completely disapeared, unfortunatly it turned bright green and this was much more annoying than when it was blue. Time to go and buy a yellow felt tip I think (before footie game tonight, come on rangers).

You mask an unwanted colour by absorbing only it. You absorb only it by using its opposite colour.

The opposite of green is red
The opposite of blue is yellow
