| Screen ideas & suggestions, poss diy
Hi All,
I currently own a Epson TW2000 which I'm very pleased with, this resides in the living room at the moment. I am in the process of planning a dedicated cinema room. One factor has come to light, the screen. At the moment I just use a Draper Manual Pull down screen, which "does the job".
Now I want a fixed screen in the room, and would like to be able to get rid of the black bars on 2.35:1 movies. I've done a little searching on adjustable aspect ratio screens and have considered building one myself, probably more leaning toward making one myself as I know manufactured ones can cost an arm and a leg.
I guess I would like to know if anybody has produced an motorised screen (16:9) with a horizontal curtain which raised to produce a 2.35:1 ratio screen, controlled by switch or preferably remote?.
I've considered this ratio due to the limitations of the TW2000. Though I have been reading a little lately about Anamorphic lenses, I know little about these.
As a by thought, if I set my Blu-ray Player to full screen on 2.35:1 movies, can I then use a Lens to stretch out the image (now full 16:9) back to it's original 2.35:1 without the borders and using the projectors full panel? I may have the wrong end of the stick here, as I said completely new to the idea of anamorphic lenses for projectors.
This could mean I then go down the route of a 2.35:1 screen with vertical curtains which close when viewing 16:9 material?
This may sound like a muddle, my mind is turning over with a million and one ideas for this room, just want to a good experience from the room.
Any feedback is much appreciated.
Thanks.
