Panoview 84" Manual screen - difficult to retract - HELP NEEDED

I've just got round to putting up my Panoview 84" manual pulldown screen and have a slight problem......

Screen pulls down and locks in place fine but when I come to roll it up it takes forever. Is there a knack to doing this or is maybe my screen mechanism faulty? For info the screen is perfectly level, very smooth in operation - just takes forever to put away retracting by maybe an inch or two then pulling down more than put away etc etc etc.

Anybody own a Panoview manual screen or any other manual screen - is it normal that they are hard to retract?

Yes I own one and sell them. Sometime they go up OK but sometimes I have to give 2/3 tugs to get it to go back ok, this is normal. I would not worry about it.

Re: Panoview 84" Manual screen - difficult to retract

Thanks for the reply Stubie. I could live with 2 or 3 tugs but seriously we're talking more like 20+ tugs to get the thing fully retracted. I'm guessing this is not right?

No 20 odd tugs is not right, I would suggest you speak with Optoma Customer Services and get them to replace it (01923 691800, Option 1)

Re: Panoview 84" Manual screen - difficult to retract

Thanks mate - I'll ring them tomorrow.

One more thing I noticed was that the brackets were already mounted in the optional position i.e reversered not as described in the installation leaflet as factory fitted. Could be I have a screen that has already been returned to Optoma then sent back out again?

Will see what customer services have to say.....

Re: Panoview 84" Manual screen - difficult to retract

I've got this screen and I've found if you pull it in a certain way it will go up. Its like a seatbelt, pull wrong way and it wont go up. The only down side to this screen that I've seen it when your putting it back, if you dont catch it in time or go too slowly it'll either hit the casing and made a loud bang or else wont go in all the way.

But my problem with this screen is I'm getting a curling effect on the side edges.
