Re: Grey Projector Screen - where to buy?

You don't see many larger grey screens as it takes a very bright projector to overcome the loss of gain caused by the grey screen. It seems that most people are looking for a brighter image usually with a higher gain white screen, hence that's what you mostly find for sale. However, there is a screen on this website:

250cm x 140cm Screen International Electric Screen 16:9 Lumi-Grey Gain - 0.8 Model: CHCLG250

It is £727 so might be more money than you'd intended, but I don't know what your budget is. Hope this helps.

Re: Grey Projector Screen - where to buy?

Just be careful as to what gain you need to acheive the right brightness, as some are only gain of 1.0 which might not be enough for the size you mentioned. Matt White screens have a wider viewing angle and can be more effected by reflections off the side walls and ceiling as I've recently found out (I used to have a 1.8 gain grey 'Greywolf II' screen).

You might still find a Greywolf II screen for sale, which will help with increasing the brightness and deflecting the side reflections, giving better contrast in a non perfect room. There are side effects of this make of screen; namely a slight screen texture (that can become more annoying over time, like mine did) and occasional 'sparklies' from the glass beads. If you can live with these side effects it might be a good starter screen. In some ways I'm regreting selling mine as although my new white screen is smooth and has no visible texture (which also seems to make the image sharper), the image looks more 'washed out' due to my room having fairly light coloured walls and a white ceiling.
