Beamax R Series v M Series

Hi

I am looking for recommendations for a 100-120" electric screen to go with a JVC HD550. I was looking at Beamax as they seem to be what everyone talks about on here. Budget is under 1K

The projector will be just short of 6 meters from the screen so I take it the bigger the screen the better for this distance? Perhaps a 1.3 - 1.5 Gain as its a dark room but not a cave.

The only real need is that it has black casing - anyone know if the M series beamax can come with this option?

Any help on this would be great - as making a decisions is doing me head in

Thanks

Mick

Re: Beamax R Series v M Series

They are definately excellent prices, haven't come across them before though, maybe worth a call as they are nearly £1000 cheaper than the Beamax I was looking at.

I'd also be interested if anyone else has had any dealings with Primeview?

Hi. I sent primebuy an email asking if they could send me samples, but unfortunatly they don't. They did say that they felt their screens where up to the mark. However, have you read this thread 100" Tab Tensioned Projector Screen

I'm interested as the price is right

Definately makes interesting reading, like you say the price is definately right, just wish others have some experience as life has kinda taught me that you get what you pay for.

The other saying I've learnt this year is 'buy cheap, but twice'

Saying that I haven't ruled out the Primebuy yet, but I think Harkness are creeping to the top of my list, especially if they can offer a bigger top border than 30cm.

It's so nice to have an alternative/cheaper option and looks like good feedback too. I need a screen quick so Primebuy may work!

Cash is tight so that rules out Beamax or tab-tensioned

My brother and brother-in-law have both purchased Primeview tensioned screens as a result and they too have been very pleased with thiers. Staff at Primebuy are really helpful, they're a family business and they also sell these via eBay under the name primebuyuk. see link:

I'd recommend them to anyone.
