Projection on glass

Hi everybody. Im looking for flashy and alternate ways to project animation for a presentation. My goal is to achieve some sort of scifi- holographic look with transparent screen and dark lighting. I was wondering if there's some tips & tricks for projecting on glass , transparent plastic or something like that.

My first test on doubleglassed window and animated face YouTube - Projection on glass

Tell me what youre thinkin. Ideas, suggestions etc are more than welcome. Thank you.

Re: Projection on glass

If you want a quick fix, then thin tracing paper from an art shop.

Spray the window (fine mist) with water and a few drops of washing up liquid, then apply the tracing paper. Slide into postion, then dry with a hairdryer. This will help capture the light rather than losing it through the glass. This is a quick fix though.

Tried out the tracing paper but it turned out to way too dense to seetrough even with the liquid, but after that I tried applying only a very thin layer of washing up liquid. The very small amount of messy goo on the surface really captured the light beatifully. I might do this smearing trick with a normal window to capture the audience. I mean if it doesnt work i can always wash it off. :D

Really cool trick, i had fun trying it out. Thanks
Suggestions and tips are still welcome.

Re: Projection on glass

Did you get it from an art shop? They do different thicknesses You should use water and washing up liquid, just like applying tints to your car

Re: Projection on glass

There are a few manufacturers that supply stick on film for glass but it's expensive.
What size area do you need to cover?

One of the cheapest ways to project onto glass is to actually project onto a white cutt-out surface which is set at an angle so the glass reflects the image like a mirror. Without projecting onto the glass, the effect is generally bright and effective.
The theory is used on stages to create illusions etc.

Re: Projection on glass

Talk to HoloDisplays. I believe they are the leaders in this area of expertise. If you don't want to pay for a screen, then find a very translucent paint to spray on the back of the glass or buy smoked glass.

One of the things we told them a couple years back is that they need to make it more affordable. Believe it or not, the price you were quoted is much cheaper than what I was looking at with them a couple years ago.

It's still not where it needs to be though.
