OK to leave a manual screen down permanently?

I have a Beamax R series screen which I am really pleased with. It is located in a dedicated room (garage conversion) and I wondered if it would do it any harm to leave it permanently down. Do they get dirty easily? Is it in fact better because it saves wear in the roller mechanism?

I had the same screen and left it down for about 2 years without any problem. It didn't get dirty (non smoking household) and we just gave it a dust with a dry cloth every now and again.

Not exactly a scientifically researched answer but hope it helps!

If you're going to leave it down permanently, it might be worth making a permanent screen?

Hi Dillz,

Like Toonaround mentioned, if there's no risk of smoke, no direct sunlight or no chance of it getting dirty, you should be fine.

I don't know how often you use it, but if it's only a few times a week, the wear and tear on the rolling mechanism won't be much of an issue.

If you're happy with the way it is, there's no reason to change.
