Setting motorised projector screen "Down" limit?

Hi All,

I apologise if this is a noob question, but I inherited an electric 4:3 projector screen from my dad some time ago. It is current controlled by a 3 way switch on the wall, up, middle (nothing/stop), and down.

Now currently, I dont think there is a "down" limit as such, and the screen itself is very very LONG (no releative 4:3 image would ever reach the high this screen could reach).

I was wondering if/ how you would set a limit to the "down" point of the screen? The reason I ask is I would love to either a) change the screen to be controlled by remote, or b) not have to stand there and wait to press the "stop" button when the screen has reached the point required.

I have no idea of model number or anything, so I was just wondering if there is something built in to all electric screens (ie to stop the screen itself comming off the reel), or otherwise?

Alternativly, would there be a way of having the up/down motion on a set timer so that i could control it by remote, or at least be able to press the button and walk away?

Thanks for your help in advance

Grangey

On my electric screen i use as part of my masking system there is two small holes on the outer edge of the screen casing .... these are the access points that you insert a small screwdriver into to adjust the setting of the up / down limit switches ...... is there anything like this on yours ?

Hi Johnny,

there certainly is. I now just need to see exactly how much I can adjust the limit by as it is at least 25% longer than it needs to be!

Be very careful to ensure that you know which direction to turn to make it shorter and which way to make it longer before you make any large changes - if you make a big change in the downwards direction by mistake you could detatch the screen from the core!

Good to hear you have the adjustments, as davehk says .... be careful and be ready to disconnect the supply to it very quickly to try and avoid any damage. Good luck with it.

I like the thinking behind the descriptions .... but i can't honestly remember which way i turned my limit switches. The limit switches should look something like the green ones in the pic.
