A little help with screen!

Hi, i've just bought a projector and am currently using a white blackout roller blind. However, my room has bright walls and the image is looking a bit washed out. Does anyone know of any suitable grey blackout blinds that will work well in a bright room?

Are any of these any good?

Re: A little help with screen!

Hi,

You say you are looking for black out blinds. Well, the ones you mentioned are regular blinds.

Black out means 0% opacity i.e. no light coming through.

By going for this sort of blind in stead of a real screen, there will be 2 main issues:
1. Sunlight will interfere with your projection (plus, people outside will see what you're projection onto it - especially now days are getting shorter...)
2. The light from your projector will not be reflected as it could

If price is your concern, there are second hand screens being offered on this forum quite often. We have ex-demos ourselves which are cheaper than blinds and there are resellers that have clearance stock of screens too.

If you still want to go for a blind, that's fine, but make sure it's a real black out at least.

Good luck,

Otto

Re: A little help with screen!

Hi, thanks for the reply, however, there is no natural light entering the room the only thing that is a problem is that the room has light coloured walls.

I dont have a problem with cost its just that to get an 80" screen is a bit tricky because of the casing that they normally come in make it a lot wider and i dont have the space for it, where as i can get a blind made to fit perfectly.

I think some of the blinds in that list I linked are black out blinds but not sure which ones. My question was I would any of those greys work well as a projector screen for a room with light walls?

Thanks

Re: A little help with screen!

Hi,

I see your point about getting them custom made and case size.

I'd go for white though, or as light grey as possible.

All best,

Otto
